You are granted one free 1911-style pistol by the Fairy Godess of Tacticality. Any make, any model. Which brand do you choose?

Colt Series 70 Repro and a round-trip ticket to Ted Yost.

If it has to be out of the box only, Rock River.

1 each Pistol, Government Model 1911A1, w/spare mag, caliber .45 ACP, manufacturer Singer, Serial number s001.

Sell it and buy a few LNIB Colts from the same era.

Best manufacturer used to be: Colt.

Now, in my opinion, it's: Kimber.

But if I could have a freebie, I'd like to try a/an: SVI.

I'd keep my stainless xse c. commander just the way it is followed closely by my 70 repro.

Think BIG!

Or at least exotic. Which is to say, EXPEN$IVE.

The Strayer Voigt TiKi - handcrafted from titanium. Call and raise.... ;)

Tough call my two current favorites are a Les Baer Ultimate Master 1.5 and a Springfield TGO 1.

Para P14 Stainless Limited. I've never owned a nicer straighter shooting 1911. And it's beefy which is good for my hands.

Standard factory gun I am shocked to say is a Dan Wesson, Custom I would say Baer.

I'm with Wild Alaska...I'll take something from the Colt custom shop. Polished stainless steel or deep blue with rosewood grips...just no front serrations or artwork on the slide.

Make mine a 70 series colt, but will have to get back with you on who will do the custom work.

I'm with Shmackey :D

Of mass market 1911 style guns you can buy off the shelf, everybody is shipping too many turkeys that don't work right out of the box or that have something (MIM) break after a few hundred rounds! A high enough percentage are good to keep the profits up, but the customer is the QA/QC department these days.

Custom guns I don't know, I've never been able to bring myself to spend more than $650 on any handgun, (althouh a few I have are worth a bit more than that now).

I am not a big 1911 fan (maybe the only one here that isn't :) ), but I will vote for Rock River Arms being the best 1911 for the money.

Just my .02,
LeonCarr

Any 1911? I want the full-auto Bul M5... If I had to come back to reality, I'd probably have one built by a local 'smith.
