Don't forget about PRI, they sell stainless steel AR mags. They make them in the waffle style for strength and use Magpul followers so there's no feed issues.

Might cost a couple bucks more but they're probably one of the best mags on the market.

That would be a problem. As long as you stick with regular .223/5.56 stuff the Pmags are pretty solid. The divider will cause you some issues with other stuff, not sure about ELD .223 though.

Adventureline,Universal, DH and NHMTG 20s is all I have ever used. I have 1 30 rounder that came with a rifle way back when. I have never even used it.

Aside from the USGI 20-rounders, I only have experience with the Brownells & Magpul M3s. I have found both of these to perform without a hitch.

During my rare times firing an AR from the bench, only a 20 will do for me.

On walkabout with an AR, only the 20s look/feel "right" to me in the magwell. If I were concerned that someone(s) taking shots at me during my stroll and/or if the AR were selectfire, I would probably prefer 30s (or more:)).

On several occasions since the Brownells 20s appeared (~15 years ago?), when I have found them on-sale, I would buy 10 more. On more occasions I have successfully (barely) resisted the urge to buy 10 more after refreshing my understanding of just_how_many AR mags I have on-hand. :)

A couple of years ago I stumbled across some Magpul M3s on-sale online and purchased 4 or 5. They work very well.

BTW, I have found that the Amazon-brand of "Snack Bags" (Solimo) are sized almost perfectly for a USGI-formfactor aluminum 20rd AR mag. ;) I have found them to be handier for light-duty service (briefly in coat/back pockets, bottom of bags, etc) than an alternative that many here will recognize:

A couple of bucks more? :what: WHOA! :)

They sure look nice, though.

The twenty rounders that work best for me are the mags that came with my Colts.

Hmm, don't know that I can offer much--all of my 20s are OEM GI, Colt, OKay, and the like. Never much fooled with the followers or springs, as they worked just fine as is.
Mind, the geometry of the 20 is designed to work with the strait magwell, too. It's here the curve changes to strait thaf the 30s needs follower improvements.

I use the aluminum Brownells or OKay Industries 20 rounders and Colt before that. Never had a mag related problem with any of them and they've proved tough enough for my purposes. Might have to clean them if I drop them in the mud or some such, but have never found a reason to fool with them otherwise.

Great idea,my wife had some in the cupboard. Fit like they were made for 20 rounders

The 20 round Mini14 factory mags fit in these bags too

If you want a straight mag that's metal and much shorter than the Magpuls, the one that's the best bang for your buck are the AR Stoner ones on MidwayUSA. They're stainless steel and have an anti-tilt follower. $13 is the normal price and if you wait you can get them when Midway does a $50 free shipping offer.

I have one Brownell's and I like that it's light, but it feels cheasy and it doesn't have the anti tilt follower and cost more.

The Colt mags have been around forever, they're proven, but for double the price of the Midway mags I don't think they're worth getting.

Plus one on Bannock's post...I have some 30 rounders but never use them...when I was still shooting the CMP over the course Nat'l Match regimen, the 20's allowed (all US GI / Colt) me to get down low in prone and provided a better off hand position. We stash the 30's for zombie apocalypse scenarios...LOL. Rod
