Just curious how everyone would rate their favorite 3" revolver. My choice is the model 60 3" by S&W...:)

My carry gun is a 3"M65.I find it to be light, powerful and combat-accurate.I know that it will work, every time, without fail.I have carried many different guns over the years, but I always come back to this one.

I'm with Mastrogiacomo... S&W 60-4!!!

Next would be a S&W 640

Then a S&W 650

And finialy in the K frame family, a S&W 65

My vote goes to the Performance Center 681 3",(non-ported, black/green). I had a front night sight installed, and with a 7 shot cylinder I'll put it up against any HANDGUN (not just revolver) around for open or concealed carry.

Tough one to decide. The M625 is probably the easiest one I have to shoot. The M24 is great fun because I really like the .44sp, but for the biggest grins there is the M657.

Model 65 works for me.

I see no practical use for a 3" magnum J-frame.

I love a 3" snubbie. Its the "just right" barrel size for me.

- 66 F-comp
- 65
- 586 L-comp
- 29 Lew Horton roundbutt
- 329 PC

I like 'em all.

I like three inch revolvers; I have them in I-, J-, K-, and N-frame sizes.

My absolute favorites, though, are fixed-sight, 3" round-butt K-frames.

I know folks like WT don't think the 3" is practical but having owned a snubbie, I felt the extra barrel length lends for accuracy without being to heavy for comfortable carry. It might be just me but I don't find I shoot well with a short barrel -- and the 442 that I got rid of wasn't even 2".

I like my Ruger Speed Sixes with the 2 3/4 inch barrel. One in .38/.357 and the other in 9mm. Did not like the weight distribution of the GP-100.

Isn't anyone going to mention the Ruger SP 101?

I really like the SP101. Mine is stock except for a set of Hoque grips. It must be pretty tight as I get a chronographed 1,300 fps with 13.5 gr of H2400 and 158gr Lead SWCs.

I thought about getting a Smith Perf Center M66 3", but I didn't like the muzzle brake, plus I've had a run of bad luck lately -- everything I buy seems to have some sort of problem (not limited to guns). Thought I let Murphy rest for a while. There's no real good reason to spend the money on the M66, I'm sure the Ruger works just as well -- although the M66 I handled sure was sweat.

Best of the bunch in my opinion are the 3" K frame S&W's (model # doesn't really matter) or the 3" Ruger GP100's. If Ruger was still making the Speed Six (actually just a hair under 3"), that would top the list. If you can do with one less round, the Ruger SP101 is good (actually the best of the smallish frame .357's).
