Ok looking for another .45 and already have two SA XD's so I am ruling that out. Just because I want something different-- the XD is an awesome gun! I had a Taurus 24/7 in a .45, but it was not reliable in that caliber [ I owned it less then a week!-Cabela's took it back- full refund-A real shame! Loved the feel of the gun! My other 24/7's in .40 cal and 9mm are dead reliable-to me it appeared to be a mag problem]. I had it narrowed down to a SW-MP, but that only has a 10 round mag.:( I almost bought a SW-MP in a 9mm because I really liked the feel of the gun. Any ideas are welcome here.

Thank you in advance!

The Best to all!

I dont know what exactly you are wanting it for. So here are a few..

If you want that guaranteed to shoot gun then a nice Glock .45 with nightsights would do you well for under $600.

If you want a conceal carry firearm then the new Kahr PM45 is a good one to look at (though thats right there on your $600 mark and might be a little hard to find at the moment).

Hope this helps :D

If you want a solid quality .45 that will serve well and feel great doing it, the SIG P220 is hard to beat. But its capacity is only 8+1.

If you want a high capacity .45, look at the Glock 21SF.

Or wait a few months and you'll have new contenders that aren't yet on the market: Taurus OSS, Armalite AR-26 and FNH FNP-45. By this time next year, we should be up to our armpits in quality .45 ACPs.

Range, home protection, car gun.

Sorry I forgot to say what I wanted the gun for. All my guns have to have those three capabilities. [Already have a carry gun]. I was looking at Sig's they were on sale-Awesome! But I put that on the back burner for now. At the moment I prefer the Hi-cap mags. I wish the 24/7 OSS was on sale now, as you have said it looks to be a good one. I am researching the ideas you guys have already! Your great!

Thank you!

I was saving up for a Kimber TLE, but found a slightly used P220 Carry for well under $600. Great shooter and good for CCW.

how long ago did you have the 24/7? I have 2 in .45 and both have been 100%. One is a 2006 model and one is a 2007. My 2006 has 9500 rounds through it with out a single problem, I cant wait to hit that 10,000 round mark :D

mpnova

I am a huge fan of the 24/7 Pro [I still own three others-two.40's and a 9mm] The two .40's have thousands of rounds through both and never a problem. The 9mm has jammed a couple of times, but that was my wife's grip, this is her first semi-auto. When I shoot the 9mm no problems-in fact I plan to get a 9mm of my own I like it so much. I bought the .45 on Monday and went shooting on Saturday with my wife. We also had the 9mm 24/7 with us. The .45 could not shoot more then one round and it would either jam or the next cartridge would not feed. I tried both mags. I then noticed one of the mags would not feed the next cartridge at all, I had to unload the mag with a small screwdriver pushing each cartridge up one at a time so I could get them out. [bad spring?] The other was almost as bad[weak spring?] This really disappointed me, so after our shooting session I took the gun back to Cabela's where I had purchased it. The gentleman said they had three returns of the 24/7 Pro .45 in the last few weeks! So I chose option number one, which was a full refund and the store reacquires the gun. I was pretty bummed by the whole incident-I loved the grip of the 24/7 .45- it was awesome! Also I was shaken by the fact that my other Taurus guns were so perfectly reliable and then this happens. I am now thinking of getting a SW-MP in a 9mm or .40 or .45 for my next gun. I really liked the feel of the MP. The reviews on them are very good. I have always been a Taurus fan, but I think I will wait until the OSS 24/7 is out before I get another Taurus .45 The other calibers work just fine.

The Best to you and Yours!

2nd vote for CZ 97

For range, home defense, and car gun - I agree with the CZ97 suggestion. Has to be one of the nicer high-cap .45's out there, built like a tank.

Some folks have reported issues feeding JHP with these, but apparently the factory armorer (in Kansas City, not Czechoslovakia) will tweak and polish out any problems you may encounter.

I shot one owned by a friend of mine, and I'd say it would be worth it even if you did have the inconvenience of a return trip to KC. His was a beautiful gun, wonderfully accurate, and totally reliable for me. The only downside was that its size and weight would rule out concealed carry (for me at least). But .45 acp sure does shoot sweet out of a big heavy gun like that.

I agree with you on the feel of the 24/7. That is what first got my attention when I handled it. I have noticed that the PX4 and the FNH FNP9 both feel almost as comfy. Have you held either one of those?

ParaOrdnance P14.45

If you are not adverse to used firearms, you can probably find a ParaOrdnance P14.45 for around $600. 14+1 in a 1911.

It is a heavy gun, outweighs an H&K USP by a full pound.

Yet another vote for the CZ97. Soft shooter, reliable and scary accurate. It's a big gun, but if it fits your hand, I think you'd be very pleased.

In the plastic gun category, Glock 21, and if size is a problem the new version could be just the ticket.
If you aren't stuck on getting a new one there are quite a few police trade in on the market for a good price.

H&K and Sig are on my wish list.

That being said, my XD .40s have been so great I can't justify getting another pistol other than for the fact that I just want one : )

An often overlooked gun is the Baby Eagle in .45. Yes it's a cz type clone, but it has a some differences. It's sort of strange really.. the baby eagle line in general has a great reputation for quality, and I hear only good things from those who own them (I have one in .40), and yet almost no one buys them or suggests them.

Hexideismal,

A friend of mine who was just sent back to Iraq owns a baby eagle, and yes they are great guns. I would suggest someone buy one of those over a sig or HK anyday, simply based on price. They are real bargains.
