Best 9mm AR SBR sound suppressor

I am planning on getting a AR SBR in 9mm. It will likely use a RRA upper with 7-inch barrel. I want to add a sound suppressor to it.

What is the best sound suppressor for this plan? More than cost, weight, and other factors, I am most concerned with the suppressor's ability to reduce sound (what 9mm will make the rifle the quietest?). I'd like the rifle report to sound like an MP-5 with suppressor or quieter, if possible.

For the recommended suppressor, what quadrails will fit over the suppressor? Thank you.

Sorry no experience with suppressed 9mm (yet)

I was planning on doing a SBR with rails longer than the barrel, so all you saw sticking out was suppressor. The idea was scrubbed due to it limiting the rifle to strictly suppressed. If fired without, all the gasses would assault your gear or worse, your hand if placed past the muzzle of the barrel.

I have a 10.5" on my 5.56 running a YHM suppressor. My plan is to put a 10" rail system so it butts up to the rear of the suppressor. Leaving the phantom mount sticking out when fired unsuppressed.

Now I'm not a fan of Spikes tactical, but one of their selling points for their BAR rail system is that it fits over "most" suppressors. I think most companies list the I.D. of their rail system and most suppressor companies list the O.D. of their suppressors.

Hope this helps a lil.

I'm interested in this also, but I think the integrally suppressed stuff will be quieter. I'm also limited to non-SBR, so integral looks more appealing.

The rails... Some of the FF rails will work for what you want to do, definitely not the KAC one though. That one won't even fit over a thin gas block. The Oly one and another cheaper one, I can't recall, have large diameter openings.

When it comes to suppressors, what I am finding out is that you need to check compatibility of any parts you want to use before the fact.

Do you have any links to integrally suppressed 9mm AR15's? I can't seem to find any or if I do, there is no following to say whether the kind I'm looking at is good or bad... most people just say to go with a SBR and add the suppressor. However, I would think that an integral AR, if there are any out there, would be much quieter. Thanks.

My brother did the same thing with a rock river 9mm sbr. He has it with a 5” barrel and a gemtech multi mount. The hand guard is 7in and the can sticks out with no barrel showing. He also has a long flash hider for when the can is off. We hand load 147 subs for it and i think it is just as quiet as an mp5

an integrally suppressed barrel greater than and equal to 16" would be just one stamp and a integrally suppressed barrel less than 16" would be two stamps right?

That is correct.

thanks. I figured that was it but couldnt remember. the integrally supressed barrel looks neat from the stand point of having one solid barrel all the way through the rail but darn that would be a pain in the neck to get 2 stamps :banghead:

still havent made up my decision yet as to what i will do....i am about to get the DDLES dedicated 9mm lower and register as SBR...

I am using an SWR Trident with a TROS 5" tri lug barrel under a PRI mid length forearm, it works flawlessly and is extremely quiet.

Pics are different phases as I waited on parts to come in. I temporarily used a Yankee Hill barrel nut while waiting for the PRI to come in so I installed the CAR forearm in pic 3, this should give you an idea of the length hidden under the handguard.

As it sits today except I have a Geissele Dynamic 3-Gun flat faced trigger in it now.

I've got a Trident on my 8" 9mm AR. Here's the rifle.

Here it is with the suppressor on it.

The Integral suppressed upper I suggested above is quieter. (Shot one side by side.)

rjrivero,

with an 8" barrel are factory 147gr rounds subsonic or do you handload your own subsonic loads?

i was looking at getting an 8" barrel bc then i could shoot it while waiting for silencer approval but didnt think 147gr rounds would be subsonic unless i specifically handload them

I can't say for sure, because I roll my own 9mm. I don't have any trouble keeping 147gr subsonic in my 8" barrel. I have fired factory 9mm 147gr before and had no issues with subsonic crack, to my recollection. (It's been about 2 years since I shot factory ammo out of it.)

MK9-K from Gemtech works pretty darn well but the SWR Trident is pretty awsome as well.

I had the opportunity to shoot some 147gr American Eagle Factory loads in my 8" AR side by side with my 5" Glock over the chronometer. The difference is only about 2 FPS on average, so yes they stay sub-sonic at 1024 FPS out of the 8" barrel (Tested without the suppressor.)
