title says it all. i reload, 155gr lead round nose, and shoot it through my xd only, however i want to be able to shoot the glock more on the cheap, so what barrel so ya'll suggest? i have been looking at the lobe wolf.

i would best like a barrel that is totally drop in and no smithing required.

thanks.

I had a lone wolf barrel for my glock 17. It was drop in, ran perfect and was plenty accurate. Mark

I've got Storm Lake barrels in my Glock 19 and Glock 22. They dropped right in and I haven't had a malfunction yet.

i too have experience with storm lake barrels in a 19, where did you order it from?
thanks.

I've heard this "Lead in the Glock" argument is BS

There are plenty of people here on the site that shoot reloads out of their standard Glock barrel and haven't had any problems.....I don't know if I believe the hype about it messing up your weapon

The only experience I have is with Lone Wolf ones. They drop in and work just fine. The leading safety issue with polygonal barrels is going to be debated til the end of time so I'll stay out of that.

i think how it is pretty funny how all three handgun companies that i know that use polygonal rifled barrels say the same thing, don't shoot lead. is this a conspiracy with three separate gun companies in cohorts, against the gun owner, and even more the reloaders?

Yes it is interesting, and yes, I do think it's a conspiracy.
As you know (I think), I'm still somewhat new to handguns, but from what I've heard (and it makes sense) is that the barrels of handguns are far stronger and more dense than the lead these bullets use. How could something so weak damage something so strong?

greasy stool,
that is a nice set up you have there, i have been looking at their threaded barrels, very rarely do i buy something for looks but the threaded barrel is sexy even without a can.
ok so another vote for lone wolf.

steel in barrels is harder than rocks, and debris that can get into a barrel, does it have the potential to cause damage?

it doesn't have to do with the fact that it is lead and the lead itself is hurting the steel. the fact is that the way the rifling's are cause the barrel to receive more lead fouling form each lead round that goes through the barrel.(in polygonal barrels i am talking here) excess leading causes excess pressure which can lead to kabooms.

Its a pressure problem.

As lead builds up in the poly rifiling it causes higer and higher pressure when each additional round is fired.

With Glocks its really a bad deal because the lead can build up to the point where the pistol dosen't go into battery completely and the next thing you know... there is another KA BOOM thread on THR.

I have shot reloads out of my G17 for over a decade; HOWEVER, they weren't lead - either jacketed, or at the very least, plated.
The polygonal rifling is not meant for the softness of lead and will result in leading in the barrel, affecting accuracy. You're free to do what you want with your gun, but as mentioned, when three makers all say the same thing, I would tend to go with their determination over yours or any other internet poster. The barrel is cheap enough if you want to shoot lead.

I have a lone wolf barrel for my g21, its a good barrel, but it isnt without its problems. My lswc loads that I shot through my stock barrel (oh my! lead in a stock barrel) wont work because of the shorter chamber.

As far as lead goes, my uncle had a g21, g22, g23 and I have a g21 that have all shot lead. My g21 wenth through a few thousand. I dont think that my uncles guns saw a single round that wasnt lead, all with stock barrels.
