Best Group You have ever shot

These aren't absolutely the smallest groups I ever shot, but for the guns they were shot with I am very pleased.

16" Ar15 Upper .50 Beowulf 5 shot group at 100 yards with factory 400 gr. loads. I've never gotten another 5 shot group so small but three shot groups stay nice and tight:

And a follow up 3 shot group (different day) with factory 325 gr. load:

10-22 50 yard target after I rebarrelled and installed a new stock.

It previously shot the ammo like this:

Some great rifles and some great shooters here. Thanks for sharing guys and gals.

5/8", 5 shots Weatherby Vanguard 30/06

PICT0643.jpg

9/16", 5 shots Remingtom 700 .350 Rem Mag.

PICT0645.jpg

1.1", 20 shots Ruger M77 .250/3000

PICT0646.jpg

All fired at 100 yards and includes flyers. I have others equal to and/or slightly smaller but 1/2" is the very best I've ever been able to do off a bench rest with sporting rifles.

Today I shot the best group ever with my 10" barreled Thompson/Center Contender in .30-30 with open sights. It measured less than 7/10" for a 3-shot, 50 yard group from a sandbag rest. Actual measurement with the calipers was 0.67 inch.

It was a handload of a 125 gr. Sierra FP HP in front of 32.5 gr. of IMR 3031 in neck-sized Imperial cases.

Now I have enough confidence in this load/gun combo to use it to try for a deer this Fall.

It may have just been luck but I'll take it anyway. It was 94 degrees outside when I shot the group.

My best is far behind a lot of you guys, but I'm still proud. I have a new Browning rifle that I just barely got the scope mounted and sighted. The second group that I put on paper was .598" for three shots. The first group would have been right about the same except for a flyer. The loads were just simple "scope sighting" handloads.

So now I'm on to see for real how well this gun will group!!

I shot a .75" group at 100 yards a handful of times with a CZ 527 in .204 Ruger. Hornady factory ammo.

Most of the time though, the groups were a hair under 1" from a sandbag.

well I don't know about any given group but I definitely have a top 3.
in no particular order:
1. in my early years I used to line up with my best friend at about 50 yards with my marlin 60. our targets? empty 22 casings. my personal best was 7 out of 10 casings, his best was 4 out of 10 casings.

2. was trying to backwards convert a springfield 1903A4 into a 1903A3, once I got iron sights on it I tried to put it on paper at 37 yards. I made 3 separate 3 shots touching groups. that was when I had a change of heart and put glass on it and turned it back into a 1903A4

3. took the A4 out to put it on paper and by the end of the day was hitting a 12" gong at 500 meters with about 80% success.

those are my bests. I don't know where most shooters would range those but those are the best I've ever done with both irons and glass.

.486" 5 shot / 100 yards out of my Remington 700 300 win mag using cast bullets. point of impact was 3" low because of the reduced charge, but it was and still is the best group i have ever shot. i have hit just over the 1/2" mark several times with the same load in that gun. i guess the stars / moon / and Venus were all aligned on that day.

My best from Thursday:

gRECON19JUL12T8BH69SMK.jpg

100 yd, 10 rounds in 60 seconds, from the bench, Using Black Hills Blue Box 69gr SMKs, with this rifle (pictured with a 50 yard/10 round target):

2012-05-11_15-56-47_478.jpg

which I am pleased with, as 1] my tired (50 year old) eyes need more than 4x at 100 yards, and 2] the 'Point Blank' Reticle center dot covers 2 MOA at that distance. I *do* wish I believed in 'throwing out the flyer', though ;)

This is a favorite target:

2012-03-03_17-09-06_334.jpg

Though it's only 5 rounds, the bottom staple tore out and the target began flapping over the target in a full value 10-15mph wind- so the group in the 10 ring is from the rounds passing through the back of the target before hitting home in the top right. *that* was some fancy shootin'.

That was 100 yards, with this rifle:

It was a 10 round 91% (Master class) on a std 50 yd Bullseye target center.

It was fired off hand, one hand, with a chrome plated 1911, #IRS 2002. It had plated sights, a sewer pipe bore, rattled like a can of marbles, ammunition was 3.8 BE, H&G 130.

Also, waay back then, I had a steady hand and sharp eyes.

Browning A-Bolt Medallion with BOSS in .223... 6-24x scope cranked all the way up... benchrest... after getting the BOSS system dialed in for the 55 grain handloads - 3 shot group measuring 9/32" center-to-center at 100 yards...

I kept the 5th to duplicate. This was on a clean defiled barrel. I can put them into close to .75" at 200 yards and a good day when I do my part.

OK, Ok, Ok. I have been shooting about 3 times a month for about 7 years and feel like my skills are pretty good. My point is I did not shoot one round and completely miss the piece of paper!!! After 10's of thousands of round I have this 3 shot group. Some people call it luck, I call it.......well LUCK!!! Needless to say it is hanging on the wall in the reloading room. I probably need to frame it. Maybe 7 more years of shooting will give me another one like this.

Groups

My absolute best group was a five shot one half inch cluster done with my Colt AR15 and with iron sights. No pic.
I shot this three shot group with a .50 caliber muzzleloader. Using a patched round ball and buckhorn sights.
GPR3shotat100.jpg
This five shot group was done with an FN FiveSeven pistol at 100 yards.

not mine but shot OFF HAND by my 13 year old daughter, one week ago, with here Feinwerkbau 800 air rifle.

7,7 mm minus 4.5 mm pellet diameter give 3.2 mm at 10 metres or just a bit over 1 MOA

she clearly outshoots daddy.

1987, out of the box 10/22, 50 yards. Don't recall what ammo.

3 shots going into one hole, twice.

Left group was first. Right came after making scope adjustment.

Never did it again.
