I'm looking for a gun, preferably new but used if I have to. The thing is, I have a purchase permit that expires on christmas eve so I'd have to find it relatively quick. I was going to buy this one gun, but the deal didn't work out so I have to find something else or turn my permit back in. I have almost all of my christmas presents bought, and so will probably have 400 or so to work with next week. I'd prefer to get something in 9mm, or a nice rugged revolver. Additionally something that could be concealed would be nice but i really don't have too much of a preference, though of course i'd like it to be reliable. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

*ahem* taurus 24/7 in 9mm, or used Glock 17.

or, if you don't have a snubby, a used 686 or NIB taurus model 85. (should have some money left over with either of the taurii.)

Yeah i saw a CZ-40p for 375 and e-mailed the guy about it. Please keep the suggestions coming though. Any chance I could get a good .357 for the price?

Cheap is what Cheap gets. Sorry your time frame is so short. I'd look for a used Glock 17 or 19, and hope to trade up later!

how do you "trade up" from a Glock 17? It is quite possibly one of the best defensive sidearms ever produced?

Detroit eh!

Around here you could get a Ruger sp101 in .357 for around 4 bills, or a used Glock in good condition. I have seen CZ pistols for $350 in 9mm I think they where the 75 series. If I had to get a Taurus I would get the 24/7, they seem to be put together better than the 92 series. If you would have posted this Yesterday I could have sold you the one I traded in on my new Ruger MkIII.

Ruger GP100 or SP101 depending on if you want a service sized or compact respectively. Great revolvers.

Brigrat beat me to it but what the hell, you cannot possibly trade up from a Glock-19 or 17 as they are most probably the two best 9mm pistols ever placed in the hands of man. I'm sure you can squease another 50.00 or 60,00 bucks and buy one brand spanking new on line for 499.00 + transfer fee's! I've seen them all over the place at that price and there worth every penny of it.....Good luck

My advice exactly

That is exactly what I would have said. Or a Ruger GP...

That opinion isn't shared by everyone.

Lots of options, but why rush it? If you can't find or don't even know what you want; just get another purchase permit when you do.

CZ-75 SA. The nicest part is, it's not a compromise. It's one of the world's finest firearms, and it just happens to be a bargain.

Ohhhh a K-Frame! :Drools:. Too bad It would never come in on time. So far I have a few options

A CZ-40P NIB for 375
A NIB S&W 642 for 389
A NIB SP101 for 430
A NIB Kel-Tec P-11 for who knows what (under 300 I'm sure)
A NIB Kel-Tec P-3AT for 245
and a few more offers that people are sending me including one for a Colt!

Please keep the suggestions coming, they are extremely helpful.

Why buy used?

To save money. I have only bought two guns new in my entire life, and those only because I couldn't find them used. I have never had a problem that was due to a previous owner, and the firearms which needed repair at the factory were serviced under warranty no problem.

Anyway, I also recommend a Glock 19.
