"best" holster for walther P99

I prefer the look & feel of leather, plus, it's easier on the finish. But for function, I like kydex. It doesn't collapse after you draw, so reholsterin is a snap and the "click" in & out is very positive.

I use a Galco Fletch for mine. Took a day to break it in properly and it's smooth as glass.
I like OWB just for the comfort factor. I usually carry using a T-shirt and a safari vest. Still a bit paranoid about it peeking under. Wish I’d gotten black instead of tan.

The Blade-Tech holster for the Walther P99 is molded from the 9mm version, which means that it will not fit the .40 Auto ones. It is best to mold off of a .40 Auto so that it'll fit both calibers.
Anyway, I am currently using a Ky-Tac BraveHeart for my Walther P99s. I had to buy an ASP Red Gun for Ky-Tac to use to mold the holster.
However, I am looking forward to a Sidearmor holster for it. The fit to the pistol is more precise, due to the blueprinting process that they use. I am putting together a group order in order to make a Sidearmor holster possible. We need at least thirty holsters in order to make it worth Sidearmor's effort to put this into production. well i have began to notice that holster wear due to the kydex, this is not something i like and i think a lined leather holster might cut that back some. i have seen IWB holsters with "wings" i guess is the best way to describe them. does this allow them to lay closer to the body? Id like an IWB rig, but i have seen a few that you can tuck a shirt in over it, i like that.........any suggestions on those?

Fobus holsters are not Kydex. They are injection molded ABS.

I have a Blade Tech IWB for my 9mm P99. It is a nice holster, but I have noticed some finish wear as well.
I also have a leather holster from Graham's Custom Leather, the "Falcon" model. I like this holster very much, but it is not as slim as the Blade Tech.
Finally, last weekend I purchased an Aker belt slide and have been playing with it for the last couple of days.
My favorite holster is Falcon from Grahams Custom Leather.

There are of course different grades of Kydex, but the Kydex we use has a very smooth finish (which we use for the "interior" of the holster. This along with proper fitting techniques, creates a holster that will not wear you finish any more than a leather holster.

Truth be told, I'm getting away from "plastic holsters" and going back to leather for carry and range use.
The Kramer IWB #2 is another excellent holster.
I have a Blade Tech IWB that "works" but the quality just isn't there and, it's moulded for a 9mm slide and a .40 slide is a little tight.
For range use I have a Fobus paddle style holster with the Walther logo. Nice, functional holster for the $'s. You need to cover the three rivets that attach the holster to the paddle or you will get marks on your slide.
The new Sidearmor IWB holster is 1/2" longer at the muzzle than it needs to be and this, for me, is a critical point when wearing a concealled holster. It should be 3/8" shorter with the end "folded" over some.
One wants the most comfortable, smallest holsters that one can get for an IWB. The logo is way too small but that doesn't effect the functionality of the holster just poor design. I sent mine back.

2004 Walther model P-99 trigger guard
When comparing my 2004 model P-99 pistol trigger guard size against my Glock 23, I find that the P-99 has a larger trigger guard. While that may sound as if "no problem" it does become a problem finding the correct IWB holster that will allow the P-99 to be fully seated within the holster. Just wonder if any of you have run into this problem? I need a IWB holster that will allow it to be fully seated and if leather, will not collapse when the pistol is withdrawn. Your thoughts appreciated.

Your question is very ambiguous! Or there really isnt a right answer. The perfect holster is the same as the perfect gun? There are many out there and everyone will have their own definition.....
Find a maker by you and chat with them...they will let you try on stuff...talk to friends and just see what you come up with.
There are many companies out there that make p99 leather...so IE, there is no need to 'cross over" to other guns to find leather.
Check out UBG, sparks is always a great mention and others as well.
