I'm looking to purchase a kydex holster for my Walther P99, and am just wondering if someone can point me in the right direction as to where I can get a quality made one. Who is the best maker of kydex holsters?

Thanks.

I've had several kydex holsters by Comp-Tac and they are great. Quality and support/service is a 10/10. I've also heard really good things about Sidearmor...

I have several Blade-Tech holsters. i love them all. they fit the gun and me perfectly. i've had excellent customer service from them and a top notch product. they will even do custom jobs if you call them and tell them what you want. i work right near their factory so i was able to go down there, tell them what i want, they made it right there in front of me in about 20 minutes and didn't charge me extra for the custom work. i couldn't be happier.

I carry my SW99s in a Sidearmor IWB with the belt hook attachment.

The belt hook has just enough flex to let it conform to my hip making for a very comfortable carry.

I carry in Sidearmors 95% of the time. Even on days where I carry from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM, it is a very comfortable carry.

They are offering a 10% holiday discount on all holsters, so it is a good time to buy.

When not carrying in a Sidearmor, I carry in a Galco Miami Classic shoulder holster.

Hope this helps...

Another vote for Blade-Tech,

Although I like their regular holsters, not their injected molded ones...

I prefer Sidearmor, I have several of their holsters, and they are all top quality, the best quality Kydex holsters I've seen or used.

Thanks guys. I have another question. What is the recommended cant angle? I would be wearing mine on my right side, just behind the hip.

Thanks again.

I had a Sidearmor for my Glock 29, I sold it last month. It was a good holster, well made and comfortable. I wanted to try out a Comp-tac, so I sold the Sidearmor and got the Comp-tac Gurkha. I have only gotten to play with it a bit as it is a Christmas gift. I put it on and had a few practice draws. My initial reaction is it is more stable than the Sidearmor, and seems to be as comfortable, will know more once I actually wear it for an extended period of time.

I also purchased a Comp-tac CTAC that I sent payment for today.

As for cant angle, I prefer 15-20 degrees. The Gurkha is 15, the CTAC is adjustable from 0-25 and the sidearmors can be had in various cants.

The CTAC may be a good option, that way you can play with the cant angles.

I would say either sidearmor or Comp-tac would be a winning choice. Both CT and SA make quality Kydex.

Thanks for everyone's help. I just purchased a Sidearmor Kydex Holster a couple of hours ago. I'm hoping that I like it as much as you guys do. I decided on the 15 degree cant angle. The only thing I wasn't too sure about, was the belt hook. I was unsure whether to get the j-hook, belt loop, or belt hook. I decided on the belt loop. I'm hoping that it keeps my gun stable. Can't wait to try it out. If anyone can confirm whether the "belt loop" is a good decision, I would appreciate it.

Thanks again for everyone's help.

After trying just about everything out there, my first choice would be Sidearmor hands down. Runner up would be Blade-Tech.

I haven't tried Comp-Tac or Sidearmor yet, but they look to be very good, especially the C-Tac.

I have tried Blade-Tech, FIST and Ky-Tac. Of those, I'd have to say that Ky-Tac Bravehart is the best one I own. (It's an IWB).

>>I will jump in also to say that I am completely satisfied with my Comp-tac C-TAC holster.<<

Unfortunately, their offerings appear to be all IWB!:(

Looks like a belt holster to me.

They have 3 different OWB holsters.

Comp-Tac is tops in my book. Work great for my G19. Great quality, awesome service and affordable prices.

How comfortable is the Ky-Tac Bravehart IWB compared to a quality leather IWB? What's the advantage?

WalHam,

One of the cool things about the Sidearmor IWB holsters is that if you don't like the attachment system (belt loop vs. j hook, I think they also have a wider j hook or belt loop available now), or you don't like the cant angle, you can send them $6 or so and they'll send you a different IWB attachment. You can also buy a shirt tucker attachment as well that will work with any of the IWB attachments. That's a very good feature, IMHO.

I don't know who makes the best, but I wouldn't recommend Fobus. The one my wife had had great retention, so much that she practically needed two hands to draw the pistol. Once, during a training session, the instructor used her to demonstrate how to draw your partner's pistol when he/she is the only one armed and you need to be the shooter. He stepped behind her, grabbed the butt of the PPK and practically lifted her off the ground before the pistol came out of the holster.

She no longer owns the holster, and the PPK travels in a Galco Stealth.

I can`t say who the best is but I`ve been very happy with my Ky-tac Braveheart IWB. It was originally ordered for a Ruger P-97 and was actually able to conceal it under just an untucked heavy weight T shirt. Once I sold the P-97 I couldn`t see letting it sit in the holster drawer so I heated and remolded it to fit my CZ-75B and 10mm Witness. I`ve done some holster making and wet molding myself so it wasn`t too hard to do. It conceals the CZ even better than it did the thicker Ruger. It`s very stable,no shifting around. The belt clips are great,as sturdy as full loops but with effort they can be taken on/off without removing the belt. The kydex is pretty thick, maybe just a tad thicker than it needs to be but it`s VERY sturdy and I`m sure will last a lifetime. It`s very comfortable considering the size and weight of the guns I carry in it. Marcus

Ive had great luck with ordering fist holsters through gunnersalley.com. Ive been using my k1 for my xd subcompact for 8 months now, and I started carrying the fullsize xd in a different k1 for the last week. The quality is excelent, the fist kydex is extremely thin and comfortable, and both times I have had my holster in less than three weeks. I will definitly be ordering from gunners alley again.

Walham,

Not sure if your order has been processed yet, but you may want to look at the new Sidearmor Ueber holster that will be available in mid January. It can be seen under new items. It looks very nice, much like a Comp-tac CTAC, it has a cant adjustment from -5to35 degrees.

Anyway, looks to be a good holster offering, may be worth a look, may solve the cant problems of ordering new belt loops.
