I'd like to get some imitation ivory grips for my 51 navy. Anyone have any reccommendations?

Short of going whole hog for real elephant ivory, my selection would be TruIvory. They have a selection of colors that range from a new almost white to a great looking antiqued yellow.

I have only used them for two piece grips. I know they make grips for original Colts, so I assume they make one piece as well.

My latest set this spring was $150 for the set (there is a decent discount if you order two sets at once) and they will fit it free if you send them your grip frame. You lose using the gun for a couple weeks, but they are fitted like a swimsuit model's bikini.

Thanks for the feedback. I sent my Uberti 1851 London model backstrap and trigger guard off today to "Tru-Ivory" to be fitted with their one piece grips in slightly aged ivory color. They said it should take around four weeks. I'll post some photos when they arrive. Now I'm looking for a gunbelt and holster.

I picked up a set of these, just need to make the time to fit them.

Nice,I thought about getting them myself but I know I'd mess up a nice set of grips trying to fit em on my navy. I stink at detail work. Years ago I built a single shot percussion pistol, It coulda won the uglyist gun contest hands down:barf::D

Bear in mind, 'Stag' Antler is true Bone...

And very nice 'smooth' Bone Stocks can be fashioned from it, when one has sections with sufficiently thick outer layers.

These, while a different look from Ivory, if Bleached and Polished right, are very 'white', and very fine grain, and very good looking...and offer a very positive grip.

When one sees Anique Grips/Stocks on Pistols, said to be 'Bone'...probably, usully, it is Stag Antler, filed or sanded down past the outer irregularities, and polished.
