Best Lefty bolt

I am interested in a high power bolt action, left handed bolt. I really like the scout type rifle but have never found one in lefty. Any advice out there? How about conversion of Mauser 98 types? Are there any left bolt Mausers?

The Rem 700 is about the best as you can get as many accessories are available and accuracy is usually good. Browning is making the A-Bolt is left-hand as well. Besides these there are the Savage which are the value leaders, and are accurate- but not as pretty.

However, Charles Daly is set to bring the Mk-X Zastava made Mauser action back as their "Superior" line, and are going to be offering it in a left hand as well as Stainless Steel. Barreled actions will be available too. try www.charlesdaly.com This would get my vote. But be advised that it will initially only be available in .30/06 (as if this is really a problem).

i have 4, 2 remington bdl and 2 savage, i like the saftey on the 700 better, the wood is a little nice was it worht the xtra 300 i dont know i got the 700 first. they both shoot nice. im am happy with both. Ronald

Even though I'm a Remington enthusiast, you DID ask about Mausers, and the Winchester Model 70 is pretty close to that, plus they have a LEFT HAND version...

Some expert gunsmith would be able to make it into a scout rifle, if that is your wish.

For an easier, cheaper left-handed scout without controlled round feed the Savage is available in left-handed actions IIRC.

But.... I'm gonna tell you why you should spend more money on something else.

OK, I'm feeling embarassed, I'm really big on the Kimber 84M, and I've harped on it twice today. For many of the reasons you sighted in your original post, I'm a big fan.
1) Controlled round feed
2) light weight = easy scout
3) It will be available in a left handed version. I e-mailed them and they promised now apparently they have had trouble with deadlines lately... but the rifle's worth a little bit of waiting (at least to this left-handed rifleman).

Additionally, I've discussed in other threads how to turn it into a very, very near 100% scout for less than $2700.

To me, its worth the wait, if you were less patient, I'd go the Winchester, more weight, but you'll get the gun faster.

Kimber 84M is 5lbs 10oz with a wood stock, and blued steel. 5lbs 2 oz with synthetic and Stainless, but I think there's an off chance they won't do the stainless in left hand, however since they've come out with their 8400 in left hand already, I think the odds are darned good they'll have an 84 in left hand even if only in blue steel and walnut.

For a lightweight high powered left handed bolt gun, Browning's A-Bolt Stalker go my vote. Outstanding balance, points great, very accurate and silky smooth action.

If you don't reload, the BOSS lets you can tailor the gun to your favorite load (instead of tailoring the load to the gun as we case stuffers do). If you reload, I'd get it without the BOSS.

Well, it's not a scout, and it doesn't have CRF, but check out the Tikka Whitetail Hunter (http://www.tikka.fi). They come in a wide variety of calibers, even for south-paws! Different action lengths for different cartridge size classes (unlike their new T3, btw). I've got one in .308 Win on order for a general-purpose-venison-acquisition-system (not tactical, but still pretty useful, ).

Some folks are turned off by their use of plastic (trigger guard, magazine, etc.), but it seems more like Glock-plastic than Tupperware-plastic. YMMV

Thought about a Tubb T2000?

McMillan Bros makes occasional runs of the T2000 bolt action in LH. You can get it in a variety of calibers.

Wouldn't be much use as a scout-type rifle - but it's wicked accurate... (or so I've heard)
