I'm looking for plinking ammo for a Marlin levergun. Have checked out ammo to go and ammoman. others? Thx

OK here's a dumb question - what does LFP stand for? I'll be very interested in your report. By the way, what are ammo direct's shipping charges like?

Check www.mastercast.net. I'm well through my fifth thousand rounds of their .38sp reloads of various configurations. Prompt service, excellent product, very reasonable pricing. Especially if you send them your brass for reloading. I send them a thousand empties via USPS Priority Mail for eight dollars and change. Any other way I know of costs more than twenty.

Cordially, Jack

There really isn't such an animal as cheap ammo anymore. There are some places which are cheaper than others but you really can't call it cheap. The Outdoor Marksman has some good deals but they don't carry as much .38 Special as they used to. some of their prices, like on the big name Factory rounds have gone up a lot lately but there are still some fair deals.

There are a lot of online dealers, just look around a bit and you will find them.
Try:
Bestshot Ammo
Ammo To Go
AmmoMan
Natchez
Grorgia Arms

That should give you a start.... Good luck (give reloading a thought if you want really cheap ammo that is better than the Factory stuff)

Georgia Arms

158gr +P LSWCHP isn't goof ro SD ammo - but it DOES duplicate very well the traditional FBI load ballistics as well as Buffalo Bore's "Standard Pressure"
158 gr SD loading. Order 200 rds, costs after shipping are $ 11/50 rds - more you order, cost goes down further.

If you you just want some cash-and-carry plinking stuff, best price I've seen is Monarch in Academy for $ 13/box of 50 of 158gr JHP standard pressure ammo. Thats good ammo - both in 9mm and .38 spl have shot hundreds of rounds with no problems.

Ammodirect is charging me about $25 to ship by UPS 1000 rounds of .44 Special from their Memphis area factory to Eastern Iowa....about 600 miles. This is in answer to your question about shipping charges.
