Best M1 Garand Chamber cleaning tool

CMP suggests they prefer a pistol cleaning brush to clean the chamber in an M1 Garand. Any idea what caliber brush is best for this application?

J. Dewey makes a special brush.

It does a nice job of ratcheting in and cleaning, but I am yet to figure out how to get it out of the chamber without ruining the brush

I like the Chamber Maid better than the ratcheting brushes of old. The CM does a great job, is removed easier, and has replacable brushes.

+1 for the Chamber Maid flexible rod chamber brush. The T-handle is so you can twist it in, then twist it out. Keep turning it in the same direction, so you don't unscrew the brush! The flexible handle may get a little "kinky" on you, but keep twisting and eventually the brush turns.

As the base diameter of .30-06 Sprg and .45 ACP is almost identical, I'd guess the pistol brush CMP was referring to is for .45 caliber.
