Best material for polishing cartridge cases?

I use walnut shells and Nu Finish.

Never gone on a medium quest to find anything better. If it isn't broke I don't want to spend the time and money fix it.

Two hours and they shine right up.

Tumbling cases is prolly the most talked about and the least important part of reloading...

Having said that when I started tumbling I experimented with a bunch of different media. From walnut pet litter (the dark, coarse grind from PetSmart worked best, and a "desert blend" just so-so) to rice and dried beans/peas, wood chunks, beach sand, glass beads, cat litter (clay/dichotomous earth total fail but "Good Mews" worked fair) and a few others. Some worked for a short time (rice worked but had a very short life before it turned into powder), some were total failures. After playing with media for a couple years I settled on corn cob blast media 14-20 from Econoline (having trouble with link). Here's one vendor, I haven't dealt with them but the Econoline link isn't working for me, but it shows 14-20 ground corn cob blast media. I've found blast media to be more consistent and clean much better than pet litter...

But isn't fun reinventing the "wheel"?:)

Pretty much all the blast media is "Econoline" regardless where it is purchased. The link I posted to Zoro is cheap and $5 to ship.

Why folks buy walnut at a pet store is beyond e? Anything that is Pet or Boat is more expensive.

Walnut media at Harbor Freight.
