What's the best way to carry the SA Beretta 950BS in a pocket? I have decided that I will shoot it left handed. Is it better to carry it hammer down on a live round or cocked and locked? And how do you lefties manage these thumb safeties?

I pocket carry mine with a round in the chamber and hammer on half cock.

No special reason. That's just what I like.

Those made in Italy didn't have a safety they carried hammer down . I have always carried my hammer down round in chamber. . be it my Italian or my lawyer safety equiped American made. I am also left handed.

Yup, my old 1957 '950b' has no safety. I carried it often before the advent of 'pocket-plastic'. Always hammer down with a round in the chamber. The 950 in .25acp is still one of my favorites. It may only be a .25acp, but it does have 8+1 rounds in a quite small and reliable package.
I just now re-read the 950bs manual. An amazing treatise on 'lawyers, guns, and money' (apologies to Mr. Zevon wherever you are). If you follow their instructions, you'd never load the thing! :)

Hammer down on a live round is how I have been carrying it. It seems this is the way to go. Is there some kind of firing pin safety? Will it fire it it's dropped on the hammer? I recently bought this used simply because I had a large quantity of .25 ACP ammo accumulated and no pistol to dispense it. It did not come with a manual. I also have a Beretta 21A .22 LR with the manual but obviously these are quite different.
