Stocking up on 30rd magazines while I can....

I'm looking to pick up a bunch of pmags and a couple of cammenga's.

But when it comes to the cheaper metal mags I don't know what is the difference between any of them. These are the features I'm not sure about:

  • Teflon
  • Aluminum vs. Steel (weight vs. strength?)
  • Anti-tilt followers, magul followers, regular followers, etc..
  • Mar-Lube Finish, dry-film finish, etc
  • Chrome Silicon spring
  • Good names? Cproducts, D&H?

These are offered at copes

I've heard alot of hit-and-miss about Cproducts. I don't know about which ones, but...

look for 'teflon-coated' and 'USGI' in the description. Those are generally what you want. They're tough and don't mar up. The Cproducts ones mentioned here seem to be like that, so they should work. I personally went with the ones from bravocompanyusa lately.

D&H are well-known and make good GI-spec mags, so buy confidently with those. But, if they are truly GI-spec as advertised, then you shouldnt have problems with any of them.

Dude Pmags are the best mags and cheap too. I wouldnt really bother on stocking up on anything else. BUT if you also want the highest quality aluminum mags go to Bravocompanyusa.com and get some of their aluminum mags with the magpul enhanced follower. No need to look further!:D

I'm a huge fan of the Lancer L5. It is currently my favorite mag. One thing they have over P-mags is transparency (although I've seen smoke-colored Pmags) and steel feed lips. Personally I think the Pmag looks ugly, but I've used them before and never had a problem.

I have a couple of the C-products stainless steel mags and they just seem flimsy even compared to aluminum USGI mags. However, they seem to work fine in my AR.

aluminum stiffer than steel? That's the last thing I would expect to hear.

Wells the C-products mags have thinner bodies than than my USGI ones, and they weight the same. I would've expected steel to weight more than aluminum. And the mags flex a lot if I squeeze the sides, agan, not so with the aluminum USGI mags.

whatever you look at, my suggestion would be to not even bother looking at mags without the enhanced follower. Being army, I got used to crappy mags, but even the cheapo mag I got with the bushmaster I just bought has the new followers, WOW!!! Amazing, no where near the crap we use in service. I will say Pmags are the best bet, but the ones mentioned here should do great if they have the new followers.

bravocompanyusa just ran out of the aluminum GI-specs with the magpul followers. However, you can look around and find the followers individually and buy and install them in your standard green-stacks yourself.

The only aluminum mags I would consider buying are the Okay/NHMTG brand. When you add a Magpul follower though you probably have as must invested as you would if you bought a PMAG so personally I will stick with the PMAGs.
