I'm looking to pick up some more 30 Round .223 Rem./5.56mm NATO AR magazines. Reliability and durability are my main concerns.

I currently own four C Products aluminum magazines with green followers and four C Products stainless steel magazines with Magpul anti-tilt followers.

I can't decide whether or not to buy more C Products magazines or go with another company. Brownells magazines and Magpul's polymer magazines look interesting.

The C Products finish on the aluminum mags is just as durable as the magazines I'm issued in the Air Force for the M16. That is to say, the finish isn't durable and easily scratched.

The C Products finish on the stainless steel mags is a polymer bake-on finish they call "Polycoat" and looks nice, but I don't yet know how durable it is compared to the aluminum mags.

Other than the finish, all of my mags are reliable including the four that do not have the Magpul anti-tilt followers.

Try Magpuls "PMAG". I ordered ten from the factory and with a 10% military discount it came out to $15.50 each shipped. They are drop-free, self-leveling, and come with a cover that securely snaps in place. I was told they come in three different colors, but I prefer basic black to match my rifle.

I like the NHMTG, but I've had no problem with CProducts or D&H mags either. Next go around, I'm going to try some of the PMAGs. Although, if you are buying lots, it would be hard to beat 44mag.com's $9.99 Cproducts mag sale.

I don't trust any mags with green followers. Some people may think that strange but I've had 0% success with them, despite half of 'em being advertised as mil-spec.

I use D&H milspec mags only. I got a good deal on 40 of them a while back, tested all of them in my AR-15, and they all work flawlessly.

Like others, USGI, and PMAG. I've got some old "Adventure Line" mags; wish I could find more just for the name.

Anything else and you risk having unhappy mags. That's no good.

Remember, happy mags = happy AR = happy girl:

With my recently-sold Bushmaster, I could use any mag I found and it would work flawlessly. That said, I really never tried any plastic mags or any super cheap bargain bin mags either.

I like Magpuls PMAG, mainly for the dust cover they have, and they work flawlessly in my Bushmaster and Kel Tec PLR-16

out of a batch of 20 c products mags, I had two bad ones. Both were short in the OAL. However, the rest have been fine, and have all been cycled with through full loads at least 2x.

Magazines are touchy things. My suggestion is to shoot with every magazine you try before you trust it, regardless of brand.

I've been buying only D&H with the Magpul followers for some time now, and they never fail. Based on what I've been hearing and reading, though, I will try some PMAGS.

I like USGI mags. Have had great luck with Okay's, and D&H/Labelle. I have had very bad luck with Cproducts. I bought a case of 100, and about 15 or so were bad. Then another guy I shoot with bought 75, and he also had a high failure rate. Then every now and then the odd CP mag wanders into my shooting circle that takes a crap. They have the highest failure rate of all the mags I have been around. I've seen some Pmags with issues too. I'll wait a while longer until the beta testers iron out all the kinks. Plus the price isn't very good.

Any magazine that I have tested in my rifle and have proven to be reliable and with a proper fit. If it meets muster I could care less what is and isn't stamped on the baseplate.

Every mag I've run thru my Bushmaster has worked fine, even the cheap Stoner mags from Midway. The guys at the mall make fun of me, but they work every time............

Cproducts on all of mine so far - no problems. My next batch will be PMAGS though as they look cool and have had favorable reviews.

I really like the Bravo Company 30 rounders - they are made by D&H I believe and are tough to beat for the price. I also have 2 of the CMMG magazines with braided steel srings and stainless steel followers that work very smoothly. I haven't taken the HK plunge yet, nor have I gone polymer. I plan on trying the PMAGs next.

Every mag I own works fine in my Bushmaster. I have a couple cheapo steel "Pro-Mags", a few Bushmaster mags, a few NHMTG mags, and a whole bunch of USGI mags by Defense Solutions Group.

Of them, my favorites are the Defense Solutions Group mags.

H&K all the way. Yes they're expensive, but you mentioned reliability and durability-they're the best in my opinion. At least pick up a few for your collection.
