Depends on what you're gonna use the gun for. For general defensive purposes and target in a .45 I'd say a Glock 21 or Sig 220. I like both but the Glock 21 is a little smoother to shoot...at least for me.

If you're willing to drop 900.....get the Glock and use the left over money for a CZ 75B....everyone should own a CZ75 once in their lifetime.

My suggestion would be to look at the SIG's and the H&K's. I would go to a gun shop and actually hold both in your hands, see how they "fit" and feel as far as size and grip. Then check out the controls to see which has the best operational ergonomics to suit you. Both SIG's and H&K's are top quality so you won't go wrong with either one. Just find the one that suits your taste best and go with it, you won't regret it.

My first choice HK USP in any configuration! I love the way the compact fits my hand! The USP is a balls accurate platform for the 45ACP. I mean we are talking better then a few Cold Gold Cups I have owned! I have fired a MK 23 and well that even better big bro to the USP, but out of the price range.

A not so bad second choice would be Sig 220.

1911 platforms are problematic none ever seem to be totally trouble free, not like the USP. My full size 25K down the tube, and no MALF's!
