I'd support Huckabee if he had a chance. He's done a great job running Arkansas, is an upright straight-shooter. Yes he was a Baptist preacher, but he's not a zealot. Also, he's an avid hunter and fisherman. He campaigned in his bass boat with his black Lab stopping at every landing on the Arkansas river and regularly hunts duck and deer.

Also, he knows how to negotiate for what he wants. He's gotten a lot done with a democratic state legislature going along whether they like it or not.

And I've not heard her say a word on RKBA besides repeating whatever George says.
I've seen several references in The High Road where she was very adamant about the Second Amendment, much more than anything I've seen attributed to President Bush.

And I've not heard her say a word on RKBA besides repeating whatever George says.

She's talked several times about how seeing her father defend their home agains t Klan Klowns with his shotgun taught her how important it is for people to have the power to defend themselves.

Warner from VA in a possibility on the D side. Edwards less so. Richardson is a long-shot at best (Electoral College math is brutally simple).

I've no idea who could step forward on the R side who has a realistic chance of getting nominated and could then take the general election. I think Frist and McCain are going to beat each other bloody in the primary and Gingrich could come out on top as a result. The Rs might want to find a squeeky clean veteran who can "finish the job." If Powell's wife would let him run it would be a very interesting campaign...

As for our Libertarian (and other thrid party) brothers in arms, sorry folks. I don't see the USA changing from a "two horse town" any time soon.

So far, Nobody has impressed me to the point that I'd vote for him/her.

Absolutely pitiful situation.

Yes, looking for a dark horse to arise and lead us to victory.

Wishful thinking?

Some, since she is female and a minority (which means she will get a certain number of votes from those interest groups) and has the support of the gunnies; I think her biggest problem is will be overcoming the stigma the LiberalMedia has successfully applied to Bush.

Do you really think she has a chance?

Democrats usually take blacks and (to a lesser extent) women for granted. Condi would throw that for a loop.

Who knows. The one thing I know about elections is that the poll numbers a week before the vote are not even a good predictor, so us guessing with two years to go is just idle amusement.

I would probably vote for Condi. I would vote for Richardson. If it's McCain vs. Clinton or something like that I'll vote Libertarian.

Who would win will depend on so many factors. The biggest things will be assigning blame for the failure in Iraq, and (if we haven't withdrawn already) getting someone who will declare victory and withdraw quickly.

No, black people are going to mainly vote Democrat, no matter who the Republicans run.

Republicans are gaining steadily with blacks, something I am glad to see. Democrats have been so bad for blacks, with their welfare system, drug war and teachers' unions, I can't see how a black could vote for them. I think blacks are figuring this out, slowly. There is a new wave of awareness in the black community these days.

Statistically the number or blacks voting Republican is still very very low, at least in the south. If the number of blacks voting Republican in Georgia doubled in the next election, I still dont think it would affect outcome.

Republicans are gaining steadily with blacks,

I see no evidence of that whatsoever, certainly not in significant numbers to embrace as a meaningful trend.

When blacks stop attacking the Bill Cosbys and Charles Barkleys for encouraging parents to get their acts together, I will believe change is occurring. When the Congressional Black Caucus isn't 100% Democrat and stops trying to make every issue before Congress about race, I will believe change is occurring.

To say that Democrats are gaining steadily with white, radical Christians would be equally credible. The polarity couldn't be more striking. The parties virtually "own" their respective voting blocks, none of it having much to do with real government. The social tensions in this country could be its downfall.

You have to know all this by observing how the candidates position themselves. The ones who focus on genuine government issues are the ones I would have interest in.
