Thumbs? What thumbs? I have a throbbing stump of pain where my left thumb should be.

And the right index finger is about the same.

Posting is painful at this point.

But PvtPyle, Correia, myself, and others are hoping all you folks that ordered them will have something to put under the tree.

You all want real fun, get a tromix converted 12 gauge.

I sure hope Santa's elves were kept "well watered" during the all night work in the toy shop.

but then again....to much watering might give Mr. Correia a real reason to deny the crew inspection sticker status. ;)

I got to say....all this talk about fuzzy bunnies is getting me real interested in a Saiga.

so forgive my un-informed question....

Why should I want to spend the extra $ to trick out a Saiga into an evil rifle, when it seems that the same can be done to an SKS for much less?

Hi-cap magazines that actually WORK. And accuracy generally just a touch under 2 moa if you do your part.

No "water". High quality work required.

Wouldn't want to have to do one of those "Well, um, you see, what happened was......" kind of posts regarding QC issues.

Yay... here comes KalishniClause

I just ordered my .223 Saiga 16" today from my dealer for $255.00 plus tax. It will be here next Friday. Can't wait. :D

I've gone to the dark side by officially joining the .223 and AK club at the same time. It was going to happen sooner or later.

I don't know if I could realistically vote who produces the best Saiga Conversion as I only have experience with mine. It was purchased from Atlantic Firearms and produced by Red Jacket Firearms. I went for the basic conversion and not a clone of an AK "type". I'm impressed with the rifle and workmanship. My admittedly limited testing has shown the gun to be accurate, reliable, and well made. The gun retails for $589. Membership in a particular Saiga related forum can get you a discount on that price however. I did not provide the rifle to be converted and don't know for sure if they convert customer provided rifles but I'd be willing to bet they do. Good luck with your plans to get a converted Saiga. I think they are a quality way to get a good AK type rifle.

P.S. I have a 16" 7.62X51 Saiga I intend on converting myself that in it's current state is quite capable of 1.5" 100 yard groups with surplus Australian Ammo. See below:

I lucked out that my dealer underprices these. He has an AMD 65 folding ($550.00) and a Saiga 12 ($390.00), plus some generic Romak and Wasr types. In the magazines and online the .223 Saiga go for $300.00 or more. He has a Polish underfolder that is $400.00, and it has flip up grenade sights on it. They also have .22LR AK's and some homebrew wirefolder Saiga 12's that they make inhouse. I really want to get a Saiga 12 (std) after handling one. It has a different look, because of the gas tube, barrel and magazine. They just look so mean and it feels like you're holding a cannon.

You guys are torturing me with those pics of converted .308 Saigas and the 20 round mags. My love of the FAL is closely rivaled by my love of the AK. I may have to count my pennies after Christmas and see if Santa left me enough to fund another project...

:D

Grayrider, did we metion that those 20 rounders work? Very well at that. :D

AND they are a stronger design than the original siaga mags according to our highly unscientific "let's see if Bubba can break this!" tests.

I own an unmodified 7.62X39 Saiga and the only conversion I would ever want for it would be what is needed to permit the weapon to be used with standard AK mags. I actually like the "Monte Carlo" stock.

I have one of the early Krebs AK103K's, from back in the Kalashnikov USA days. Its been flawless since day one, and even with its 14" barrel, my most accurate AK. Right now, its approaching around 10,000 rounds through it, and I cant ever remember it having a stoppage.

I paid $700 for mine. It came with a Russian sling, mag pouch, and drop case.

An Ultimak and an Aimpoint is all any AK needs. :)
