Best Selling Guns

We always see threads asking about what gun is better and this gun vs that gun threads. I was thinking, what are the best-selling guns of all time. There are a number of categories that you can consider (bolt-action rifle, lever-action rifle, AR-15, pump-action shotgun, auto-loading shotgun, 1911 model, pocket pistol, Glock model, SIG model, etc). Feel free to categorize or go with this in whatever direction you'd like. I'd say the 870 is the pump-action shotgun winner and the Remington 700 is the bolt-action winner. The Colt 6920 is probably the AR-15 winner. These are just my guesses. I'd love to hear your feedback and supporting stats!

It would be difficult to support that a Colt product would be the current best seller in the AR category due to price competition from Ruger and Remington equivalents not to mention the various PSA/Anderson/Primary/??? products.

Let's keep in mind, however, that the OP specified "best selling guns of all time",
not what sold this year, as the Bud's list provides data for.

I, too, am curious: do we include military purchases in this, or only private sales?
