I like that, a big BAR. I'd have to put wheels and a motor on it for hunting.

There was a company named cobb making an upsized AR15 in 30-06 that took BAR ( the machine gun not the semi auto rifle) mags.

I had a Grade ll Browning BAR.
Wonderful rifle, accurate and reliable with all loads tried.
I sold it because I just didn't need it since I mainly rifle hunt deer with an M1A, M1 Garand or 1886 Winchester .45/70.

You won't go wrong choosing a BAR.

ETA, I could actually reload mine by replacing the magazine box on the floorplate, I had three total.
Some of the rifles are nearly impossible to remove the box magazine from the floorplate, check before you plunk your money down.HTH

I also recommend the Browning. And, like others have opined, I much prefer the looks of the older BARs and prefer the .308 over the 30-06 in semi-auto rifles for reasons already stated.

Well thanks for eveyones opinion, I agree with the .308 over the 06 but he wanted the 06. I just finished an auction on gunbroker for a Belgium BAR in 06. Now what would be a good scope to put on this

M1 Garand or FN49, if .308 than I would recommend the FN Fal, G3, M1A, or possible a high end AR10 like the LWRC Repr or Knights Armament SR25. I have no interest in none military rifles so I couldn't recommend a dedicated hunting rifle, maybe an FN FNAR or whatever they are called, they seem cool.

I would go with a Bushnell 3200 or 4200 or perhaps one of the new redfields

I have a 3200 on a super lightweight ruger 270 (read hard kicker) and its as solid as a rock

I got the BAR for under 500 delivered in excellent shape.

It probably won't be used much for hunting, mainly looking for a decent all around scope.

I would lean towards the BAR.

I have a Remington 750, don't get me wrong great gun, but the trigger is horrible.

The BAR from what i have seen and experienced is a lot better.
