Glock 34, with money left over for trigger work or action tuning. Also grip enhancement if required. It's a very accurate pistol.
Obtaining the greatest accuracy for target shooting was the main reason for the development of the GLOCK 34 which has an extended barrel, greater slide dimensions, and unmatched reliability in a 9x19mm pistol. This highly accurate pistol has found widespread use as a competitive pistol for USPSA, IDPA, IPSC, GSSF and other sport shooting organizations

10 cents and 15 minutes later...

Mill out the slide for a Trijicon RMR, add taller sights and you're done.

All very interesting suggestions!

.38 Super?!? :banghead: After suffering with combing the range for my 10 mm brass, I wasn't going to get another uncommon caliber. OTOH, weird is good...

This is your gun sir. Witness elite limited in 10mm. All the boom you want with accuracy to spare. Going for around 1150 on gunbroker. That leaves 350 to use towards a red dot to EASILY mount on the pre drilled gun you just purchased.

and she's sexy as all get out. Yea.....I want one too!!!

Funny you should mention that. My thoughts for this purchase began with the Witness Elite Stock 2. Most of my guns are DA revolvers. For a range toy, I shouldn't cling to that DA mode. Why not the Hunter version? The extra sight radius is tempting.

But yeah, that silvery finish looks nice on the Elite Limited!

Hands down a Dan Wesson 1911 in that price range. They build them with only the highest quality components and the fitting is a cut above any other production 1911. If you want more power than the .45ACP, then the RZ-10 10mm is the way to go.

If I had $1500 to spend, I would look at the following-

Sig 220/226 variant
CZ 75 Custom
Springfield XDm 5.25
Hk USP Tactical

Just my 2 cents:D

I would go with the H&K in your caliber choice. I like the feel of the full size USP. The higher standard capacity is a good point even though you claim not to need this pistol for self defense. The whole H&K line can fire the +p and +p+ rounds with no problem. Their are a lot of excellent choices in the previous posts, but I would go with the USP Tactical.

So long as you get a newer hunter you're good...just don't get the older model with the compensator looking front end. I had the honor of taking one of those apart.....I will say I'm pleased that they changed. LOL!!

I am also drawn to the idea that the large frame witness models like the limited and hunter can accept other slides easily with rarely any fitting. Makes switching calibers a breeze while keeping the optics that are mounted on the frame.

I vote Dan Wesson 1911. I love mine...great shooting pistol. If you could find a Baer in that price range that would be a good one to get too.

You can't go wrong with a Sig X5. Very accurate handgun. Possibly a used STI double stack. "Get a Gun" had STI Eagle for $1595 which in itself is a smokin deal.

Good luck! Enjoy!
