Opinions Please, Just wondering what the best shooting, lowest maintance highest quality AR10 would be that has the least expensive (factory) uppers/lowers/parts available. I've figured out what I would like for my first purchase, just waititng for the right transaction to appear. Now researching and looking for the next one in 308/7.62, the tactical hunt has begun. I'm having a hard time with Armalite 14 pound sass rifles, plus a scope, plus a bipod, plus ammo, plus another pound or two??? How'd they get the name ArmaLITE? Or am I way off base here? I've also seen uppers for Armalite in the 2k range, is that a bit pricey or not? LWRC probably won't be available for a while I'm guessing (3rd purchase)? Again, money is not a concern.

Thanks Everyone for pointing me in all the right (delicious) directions,

Scott aka sponge boy

i'm confused by your conflicting "...least expensive..." and "Again, money is not a concern." statements.

KAC SR25 is what you want if money is not a concern. expect to pay around $12k for this http://autoweapons.com/photos08/dec/mk11.html

DPMS is the least expensive I'm aware of, but is known for being very accurate.

$12K? Where do you shop? Friend just bought one for a little over $3K. Nice gun. I have the Armalite SuperSASS and it's also nice. Heavy, but well built.

DPMS is probably the cheapest and they shoot well. Mags are cheaper than Armalite too. But build them up like my SASS and they get heavy. Front rails are big. My PRS stock weighs a good bit by itself. 20" barrel isn't light...etc.

regular SR25, yes, but MK11 mod0 is a wee bit more ;)

(edit: i didn't pay that for mine though, nor did I buy it from that link... just referencing a very rare example of one being advertised for sale)

Thanks Guys,

By best I mean best within reasonable cost, I'm no expert and would probably not want to even use a rifle I paid 12k for unless I was casting and building them myself. Then I would spend money on whatever it took to produce them and then of course, test them. I have a few hand me down Winchesters that are worth way more than that, but they dont leave the cabinet.

By cheapest, I mean in quantity, if you wanted to stock up, etc. Money isn't a concern unless I am looking for 5 of these and 5 of those, ie, parts, L & U's (sfter the rifle purchase). Im just wondering whats the best high quality bang where and you don't get taken to the cleaners on parts for the rifle, new or used parts. My point is, I am sure most of us regular guys couldn't stockpile uppers and lowers for a Stoner but could for a DPMS, Armalite, Fal etc, etc.

I'd say the best deal going is DPMS...and that's coming from an Armalite owner. DPMS .308s seem to be built better than their 5.56 counterparts or maybe you just don't go out and put 500 rounds through one in a day. :)

Read some threads..they are accurate..just as accurate as Armalite. Cheaper for the most part and mags are cheaper. The problem, right now, is finding what you want. I had a DPMS LRT-SASS on order for months and months... the Armalite SuperSASS came in the shop and I just got it.
