best SHTF weapon?

so what do you guys think is the best SHTF weapon? from the zombie movies to nuclear war to a nation wide natural disaster or any other thing that can be but under the SHTF category? id say that semi auto is a necessity unless your s*** hot with a marlin 336, so is mobility, portability and knock down power are in there too?

auto 12 gauge with slug and 00 buck? but range would be an issue...

6.8 ar? but ammo is tough to find...

M1a? but its expensive and might be a touch big for CQB...

i mean movies make zombies look pretty tough so what do yall think?

Pump 12 ga shotgun and 00 buckshot. If it hits the fan its going to be up close and personal, any further away then get away to fight another day.

It depends upon what S is hitting which F. If our nation is at war within our own borders a semiauto centerfire and lots of magazines sounds pretty comforting..........A bunch of strung out ninnies decide to crash there way into my house........ a short 12 gauge pump sounds nice. TEOTWAKI and those of us who remain alive are reduced to subsistence hunting and scavenging....I'd like an armoury but I NEED my .22lr.
