I know that they are all considered pretty good but right now there seems to be quite a choice out there of makers.

What SKS is a better deal than the others for the money? Is the Norinco SKS any good? What about the Yugos with the grenade launcher? Crome bolt? Is that worth a permium?

I want an SKS to go with my new AK but I only want to spend $150 max. What is my best bet? So far I have seen Yugos and Norincos but I thought the Yugos looked MUCH better, is that accurate?

I bought the Yugo SKS a few months back and once all the cosmo was removed it looks awesome and shoots great. I paid $175 for an excellent grade model and I couldn't of been happier.

At the same time my buddy bought a Norinco SKS which shot great as well. It cost him $200 and to be honest I liked the looks of the Yugo better, but his detachable 30 rnd mag was a definate plus to my fixed 10 rounder.

Still, overall, I'd stay with my Yugo. Stripper clips for it make up for not having the detachable mag.

They are all good but I put a higher value on the chromed bore. Try a Noringo or better yet get a Russian SKS, you don't find too many of them at the range.:)

Yugo's are excellent deals right now. Don't worry too much about a non-chrome lined barrel. If you shoot corrosive ammo, just spray a mixture or windex and water down the barrel after shooting and then clean as usual. I carry around a small bottle of windex/water in my range bag so I spray down the barrel when I'm done at the range.

Russian Sks are probably the best. But the Yugos are a good value in the Prk they run about $199.

The Albanian SKS makes a good AK companion, but for the price you stated, the Yugo is the ticket.

I just bought a Yugo SKS for $180 from Turner's in CA. From the lack of marks on the bolt face and follower, I'll call it brand new.

If you're looking for the cheapest SKS, as other have said, you cant go wrong with a Yugo. With a C&R FFL, you can get a shooter for under $100 shipped. For a like new condition, expect to pay about $150. I recommend that everyone get a C&R FFL. It's cheap, an easy process, and allows you to buy surplus rifles and handuns. :)

Just got one on Saturday from Milarm n Edmonton (www.milarm.com). 140.00 Cdn. , or about 85.00 US surplus as new. It came wuith the sling and little round plastic oil bottle with the cute little star on it.
The ones they have are Norinco type56 models. You can get 1200 rds of Norinco ammo for 180.00 Cdn, or 110.00 US.
Can't beat that for a deal....
