OK babe, we are going way back for this one!
How about a very early Smith & Wesson model 39 9m/m with
the dust cover. Ever seen one? I didn't think so, but don't
worry as I haven't either.
Now that I got you attention, I will answer your question. The
best Smith & Wesson semi auto that I've ever owned
was a model 39-2 9m/m; and I have owned a bunch of them.
The most handsome of course, was a factory nickel version
with light walnut grip panels. It was just too darn pretty to
shoot! This weapons serial number was A222567, and its
whereabouts are unknown; but I would certainly welcome
it home!
* FootNote: the S&W 39-2 was the first 9m/m auto to see
service by a major police department; the Illinois State Police.
