I'm fixing up my AR with a more secure trapdoor buttstock, will stock it with a mil-style cleaning kit.

What is the best way to store CLP in a buttstock? When on active duty, we either got little clear squeeze bottles with a long nose, or if they were out of those we poured bulk CLP into the little bottles that Purell hand sanitizer comes in.

IIRC correctly, the mil issue bottles were pretty okay about not leaking. Should I order one of those somewhere, or what's a good bottle to keep CLP in your buttstock?

I ask because I had a bottle of RemOil leak all over the inside of my cleaning kit case today, very slippery all over.

I wear contacts, so I've re-used one of those little bottles that the re-wetting drops come in. On some you can pop the dropper part off to clean and refill it, then pop it back in. I also use surplus plastic oil bottles I've picked up at a gunshow. That works the best as it's a little larger and has a rubber o-ring.

Neither has leaked, but I put the bottles in tiny ziplock baggies just in case. I also put some patches in a seperate little ziplock baggie to keep them clean and dry. I learned my lesson when a sample bottle of CLP leaked in my range bag once.

(Those small ziplock baggies are very handy. Whenever I get one, I save it. Lots of small parts come in them. Some are very tough.)

I got some little plastic bottles from REI a while back for that same reason. Come to think of it...grocers sell breath freshener in little squeeze bottle with a screw on cap. Perhaps one of those filled with a syringe would be what you ordered. They are small, but may be enough for one or two cleanings.

DMK - Great idea on the rewetting drop bottles! I remember now years ago that a teacher showed me that you could pop them open and re-fill them with cleaning solution. Thrifty, but not sanitary...at your own risk!

I might add use a "name brand" bottle or at least one you know won;t leak. I use store brand rewetting drops that work fine, but the bottle has leaked in my pocket several times. Mostly the cap getting loose and drops squeezing out...
