I don't want to call MD a lost cause, but you have to realize that VA is a battleground right now - especially the DC area.
You live around here. Turn on the 6 or 11pm news at some point. Notice the number of robberies, murders, rapes, etc which they report. Then notice where they happened.
Nothing ever happens in Virginia. The big stink about the sniper is that he had the stones to do it here. That sort of lawlessness is just par for the course in DC and MD. The big nightly news stories in VA revolve around things like dangerous crosswalks.
Then hang around at home for a while, and cross the border into NOVA. You'll find that as soon as you cross the Potomac, people aren't complete @$$hats anymore.
People know this. That's why they're all showing up here. And voting for gun control.
I like living in a moderately gun friendly, moderately safe, moderately urban place. Please come down and help preserve that, or expand it.
