BH 209 Bottles...

I obtained a bunch of blackhorn 209 charge tubes for free.

They are marked for "charge volume" in grains from 20-120 grains by volume.

Im not going to use blackhorn 209.

So if i fill the tube up to the 60 grain marking with FFG Goex, or Goex OE. Will that in fact be 60 grains of Goex?

In otherwords does FFG and Blackhorn 209 measure the same in volume?

Yes, those Blackhorn 209 tubes measure by volume.

Measure 60 GRNS 2F, with a black powder measure, and put it in, see where it lines up.

A person can also use brass cartridge cases as a volumetric measure.
Brass cases have a case capacity that's measured in grains of water.
Black powder has almost the exact same weight and volume as grains of water.
For instance, a 9mm case has a case capacity of 13.3 grains of water which means that it will hold about 13.3 grains of volumetric black powder.
That way a person won't need to pour out powder in order to level off a Blackhorn tube.

The weight and volume of water = the weight and volume of Goex black powder
Swiss powder will weigh about 11% more because it's denser.
But the cartridge cases will measure the volume of every muzzle loading powder.

Yes sir. I like a 444 case on a powder horn. One is a good target load. Two is good for hunting with 50-58 cal muzzleloaders.
