I reload for my buddies Marlin 444. I use a 240 grain Jacket hollow point. He doesn't use it for hunting but plinking and target shooting. You should see what happens when the bullet slams into a 2 liter soda bottle filled with water and a little dish detergent. WOW!!!!! :D

The Marlin 1895 "Guide Gun" in either .45/70 (my personal choice) or the new .450 Marlin will take anything on this continent at moderate ranges given the proper loads.

.45/70 can be had in anything from powderpuff "Cowboy" loads to "Thor's Hammer" stuff from Buffalo Bore. If you handload, your options are almost limitless.

I got my own 1895G at a gun show a couple of years ago for $419+tax. IMO, that makes it the most bang for the buck I've ever gotten :D
