Big Green Is Back!

While “Big” Green isn’t back per day, I think the Remington Brands are positioned for the best quality they have had in more than a decade.

You might be right (lets hope) on ammunition under Vista but not on firearms under Roundhill and the CEO that drove Big Green into the second bankruptcy. I will be more likely to buy a Hi-Point than anything coming out of Ilion under its current ownership/leadership. Sorry for the tangency, but Big Green is gone and anything said to the contrary is simply marketing. Remington Ammunition is just another brand in the Vista Outdoor Companies very large portfolio of brands.

Could be true on Remington Arms, though I look forward to seeing what a Ruger produced Marlin looks like. I admittedly don’t know much about D’Arcy but I’m not sure he can’t be blamed for Remingtons problems since they began long before he became CEO in 2019. I’ll remain hopeful. All corporations change and evolve over time, particularly generationally, and not always for the worse.

Some one tell them to make more primers.

Now that I think of it, Remington makes bullets, brass, primers right?
But do they make powder?
Because I don't think they make powders.
So what I'm thinking is ammo, primers, more bullets (there's some bullet availability), brass that isn't 70 cents to $2 a piece will become easier to find but powder will get harder to find...

When Remington arms comes back, just don't make any 700s. Seems like there are better 700s available with more features for less money elsewhere.

Ammo is around but you won't be finding Trump-era low prices any longer.

It is a good sign that it is begging to be in stock, even at inflated prices. That is typically the pattern. Back orders begin to be fulfilled then eventually inventories get a little bigger, but those who are stocked won’t continue to stock at current prices. Retailers and manufactures don’t like to carry large inventories so manufactures will slowly drop prices so that their inventories keep moving. Retailers will drop their process to keep it moving and that will create downward price pressure. Unfortunately it takes much more time to see prices drop than raise.

Remington is still 9 months behind in contracts. Perhaps Federal will shift some of its production to helping them get caught up.

With most of the other manufacturers now close to being caught up, look for more ammunition to show up in stores. Not close to what it was in 2019 but more. By fall stores will have a lot more. However it is going to be November 2022 before anything like 2019 will happen. But we are starting to see more and more ammo

I was buying 9mm CCI Aluminum Blaser at Academy $3.86/50 "everyday low price" according to usinflationcalcuator.com that is $5.24 in "today's" money. I won't bore you with the results for $9/500 bricks of .22lr I shot up back then.

I quit reloading 9mm while this was available. The components I didn't use were a great "investment" as I used them up during the Obama years.

Good luck finding even Wolf/Tula 9mm for $7/50 in the Trump era.

Until see Gun Clubs on the shelf for $7 or less, they Ain't back.

I’ve always been a big proponent of the Model 870 Police shotgun for social work.

I hope the new iteration of Remington keeps that model going, and most importantly keeps up the good quality and tweaks that make it ideal for its purpose.

I recently saw two police body camera footage shootings where Remington shotgun were being used. Both were extremely effective and in my opinion, the raw power and per-shot effectiveness of the 12 bore shotgun is still unrivaled by the modern carbines and whizz bangs.

A charge of buckshot or 1 oz .73 caliber slug of lead traveling at supersonic velocities will solve a great many problems.

It is going to take time, like until November 2022, for things to be back at the level.

That said, things are improving. Each week we see more ammunition being sent to stores. As the manufacturers get current on contracts they will have excess for the spot market. May should see a lot more ammo on the shelves. But September there should be enough to stop people from being paranoid. But to see the odd calibers, that will be next year.
