I've heard folks wondering if Remington caps would ever be available again after the Remington bankruptcy and sell off, and it looks like the answer is going to be YES! Plenty of folks were worried the new owners might decide to stop manufacturing percussion caps.

After the big sell off and split up of Remington, the "Remington" ammunition plant, based in Lonoke, AR, now owned and operated by Vista Outdoor, is supposedly back in full operation and they have launched a new website at https://www.remington.com and low and behold they still list Remington percussion caps on the brand new web site!
Take a look -

I'm not sure how many of the old Remington folks are still working an the new Remington but hopefully they will be manufacturing the same old Remington caps. We shall see.

While I am not a fan of monopolies, Vista does seems to be cleaning-up the mess at Remington Ammo and getting things moving again. I am sure the deferred plant maintenance and raw material vendor issues took awhile to sort out, and are probably still ongoing. I am just happy to see new Remington boxes on the shelf. Maybe the QA/QC of the products can be improved, which was my major complaint in the past.

Has anyone actually seen these new Rem caps? I'd bee willing to bet the only place you're going to see them is on GunBroker for double or triple what they used to cost.

And no, the sky isn't falling. It's already landed.

If online retailers will be charging 8-9 dollars per 100 I will not be buying any except as a last resort. I've transitioned to CCI 11 for all my cap guns.

Well we all know what changes at Ruger, and Cabela's did to the supply of some black powder items, so lets hope that Remington's assets being auction off doesn't end up killing off many folks favorite percussion caps.
It takes more than just keeping the same logo to be successful.

The difference may be that the folks who purchased Remington are ammunition manufacturers first. Hopefully that means they keep the good and toss the bad. Although,in the current climate, anything that goes boom will sell...

Cabelas were purchased by an outfit that looks at everything from a bottom line perspective. The old Cabelas company offered high to mid priced gear for outdoors recreation. Stuff they believed in. Quality they gladly stood behind. Bass Pro had some higher end merchandise but beginning with the clothing lines everything else seems to be sourced from the lowest bidder. Just like Walmart.

I read somewhere the entire 2021 production is already sold. To whom, the article didn't say. I imagine it's not your local mom & pop store.

Several months ago Cabela's and BassPro stores were stocked with them and they were also shipping them direct to customers.
They were priced at $8.99 per 100 with no limit.
But who knows when the caps were produced.

$8.99 is the MSRP for Remington caps on the Remington Ammunition Company website. --->>> https://www.remington.com/muzzleloading/

My local gun store still sells remington 11s for $3.19 a tin and cci 10s and 11s for $4.95 a tin. I guess im lucky im the only one that buys them as there arent any local BP shooters arouns that i know of (i have even asked the gun counter employees and they say im the only person who buys them lol)...id get like 20-40 at a time every month or so and stocked up over a few years. Although i have a large stash of caps and I make my own caps and am not affected by the shortage...it still worries me when it happens because it affects my fellow enthusiasts. I am glad the black powder shooters havent been affected as much as the smokeless centerfire folks...this pandemic and political atmosphere has really done a number on the gun community. But we have prevailed through other shortages and companies going under...even if everything dries up we black powder enthusiasts find a way to shoot...were resourceful like that.

I keep looking for Rem 10s or cci 11s, no luck in Reno finding them, I have maybe 4 or 5 tins of Remington 10s left. So have had to slow down on just fun shooting until I can find some more.

I never had any luck with them myself,
although that has been decades ago
when I had first started. At the time, I
found the RWS were better with no
misfires and would split consistently.
The local supply of those got iffy, and
I went to CCI. All of what I'm using now
were bought some years back, so I
couldn't say about the current manufactured
caps. Been using musket for my T/C for
a while, so that cut back on my #11 use
some
Maybe things will improve hopefully

Took me about 30 seconds to get frustrated with the new Remington. I get that they bought a name and a business and I fully expected them to claim the history, but everything I saw was Remington Since 1816. Like there’s been no massive falling out. I was hoping for at least an acknowledgement that they are in fact under new ownership at the least.

Well, they are, and have been in more or less continuous operation since 1816... as long as the caps don’t change I’m happy.
