I recently bought a Ruger GP100, and although I like the factory grips, I wanted to try some with finger grooves and a bit better shaped thumb relief.

I bought some Uncle Mike's and Hogue Monogrip off Ebay and installed them tonight. Basically, both feel nice as far as the finger groove spacing...but they're quite a bit narrower then the stock grips and don't feel as good to me.

So, with that in mind, anyone know of aftermarket GP100 grips with finger grooves that are as big, or bigger, then stock grips?

Try giving Hogue a call. I noticed that their wood Monogrip for the Blackhawk is significantly wider than the rubber Monogrip. This really surprised me (in a good way) because I've used their rubber Monogrip on several Ruger double actions over the years (Security Six, Service Six, Redhawk) and always felt they could use a little more girth. Let us know what you find out. I may just have to replace the rubber Monogrip on my faithful old Security Six.

Chilly460 - I decided to give Hogue a call and ask about this. Their 'official' position is that their grips attempt to match the width of the factory grips on any given gun. But they acknowledge that the wood Monogrips are often more handfilling. I'm guessing that this is due to differences in manufacturing processes for these materials.

I don't have any experience with the newer frame styles on the GP100 and Super Redhawk so I don't know if this rule will hold true for them. But I'm thinking that I will spring for a Rosewood Laminate Monogrip for my older 4" Security Six. It will definitely "purty" it up and may well be more handfilling to boot. The difference on my Blackhawk was significant.
