I started reloading shotgun shells in June. Just passed 1500 and the Grand is running well. I have my sporting clays recipe down. I may still experiment with components but definitely feel like I have the process mastered.

Also fired my first metallics today. 130 gr Speer .270 Spitzers on top of 51and 52 grains of Accurate 4350 with CCI 200 primers. Fired out of my Remington 760 Gamemaster. Started this batch in October and just took my time deliberately following each step and re-reading all my manuals. I only fired 10 today. Group was not as small as I would have liked but my primary objective was just to have 10 safe shots with no failures. Nothing fancy, just loaded to standard cartridge specs. I have to admit I grit my teeth a little and may have winced on the first one but everything went smooth. Just wanted to say thanks to all those who contribute here. I haven't participated a lot but have gained a ton simply by reading.

I think I get even more satisfaction out of the fact that I used all my Dad's old equipment from the late 70's including some components. Thumler's rotary tumbler and media, RCBS jr press, dies, uniflow powder measure, RCBS trickler, bullets, brass and primers were all vintage. I did opt for a digital scale and a universal hand priming system, though. I'll record this outing in his old handbook right below his last entry in 1978. You gotta love that!

I'm loving this hobby and am happy to have successfully fired my first reloads today. Couldn't have done it without THR...not a lot of support nearby except for the guy at the local sporting goods store. I'm going to stay with it and see if I can't get that group smaller. Have a good one.
