Bipod query.

What's that white stuff everywhere?

Based on how freakin cold it was, I think the moisture in the air froze and mimicked snow..

It really did snow, and quite a bit, but the wind, which was 30+ MPH at times based on my Kestrel, blew it into low spots. We got the truck stuck 3 times that morning in drifts. The only creatures stupid enough to be moving around that morning was us.

Im a minimalist.
Tried to video some groundhog hunting.
Rifle and a little camera on a tripod was too much crap IMHO.
Yup, kid will have to play cameraman next time.

Sub 300 yard varminting, Harris on the rifle for prone is about all I'll tolerate.
If I had a big place w good vantage points, maybe a tripod would work.
If I had somebody to carry it out there LOL

Heck I hate even taking a small pack.

I gave up on $20 bipods, as the couple I tried were total crap. I like the Atlas for PRS, my buddy runs a Harris.

I have a couple of cheaper ones on play guns for the range, an AR, and a Ruger 77-22 .22 Hornet for example, were it can break and won’t ruin a day.

Despite being similar size, the Magpul bipod is not equivalent in quality to the Atlas.
I have both and no doubt the Atlas would make a better hammer.
As a hunting bipod the Magpul is well designed and well made. In the locked 90° position from behind the gun loads almost identical to my Atlas. The legs extend and retract in similar fashion. Sure the Atlas has the 45,135 and 180 positions not sure any of those are a big plus on a hunting rifle and the Magpul has 6 positions on leg length vs 4 for the Atlas so any slight advantage either way is probably a wash in the field.

When you need to get the front lower than minimum leg length of the bipod, the rotating legs are very handy. Not a big advantage hunting, but that's the difference.

I find the Magpul bipod sturdy enough to work for what I need it to do.
I almost went with an Atlas but couldn't justify the cost as bipod use is kinda limited for me going prone.
Anything more than just off the lowest setting and it's tripod time, sitting, kneeling or standing.

I have a Bog tripod and am converting over to a ball head with an Arca clamp.
One rifle is already set up with an integrated Arca rail and bipod.
I really like being able to just slide the bipod anywhere along the length of the rail easily.
Makes for a handy adjustable barricade stop if needed.

Yes but if having the extra positions is a metric of quality then the $30 chinesium Atlas knockoff would be quality then by that logic.
Also I've seen folks modify the magpul legs to lock in 45° position.

I've got Harris (2), an Atlas and a Magpul.

I like the Magpul for what it is, but I don't find it as stable as either the Atlas or the Harris as there's more play in the legs. I like the ease of extending the legs and the cant adjustment is very positive when locked.
