Looks good! I like the proportions of the longer barrel.Since the revolver was a replica to begin with, why not have fun and do what you want with it?
Orion8472., I couldn't agree with you more. I think it looks great!! Thank you for posting. It gives one, ideas. Thanks guys. I like the snub nose a lot, but the Sherriff length barrel, and the lever, looks a lot better to me. I'll keep both barrels, I guess,...though some have said that the snub nose barrel is sought after. I don't know.
by the way, I'm still new to all this so I was wondering how hard is it to get a different barrel, sold as an individual item? Where would one be most likely to find one? For instance, if you wanted to make an 1860 Army out of a Sheriff's model? Interchangeable barrels if you will? Thanks to anyone who might address my question.

Thank you Bibbyman. Got to thinking here. Do you think it would be cheaper to just buy an 1860? HAHAHAHA. I will check Taylor's and Cimarron. I tried Dixie to no avail. I checked eBay and there is a 1860 barrel but it looks kind of beat up and doesn't have the lever and or plunger nor the locking latch to hold the lever on it. In general, maybe those things are parted out anyway? Thanks so much for your reply. timTry ebay. But all the major import distributors (Taylor's, Cimarron, Dixie, etc.) carry parts including barrels. The barrel would need to be the same manufacturer as your gun - Pietta, Uberti, etc. And likely any barrel would require some fitting.

That's great. I checked on Cimarron and Taylor's....looks like roughly $200 for the barrel and assembly components. Cheaper than a new revolver. Of course there's the ever present availability non/availability as well. Not much on eBay at the moment. Do folks on this site sell components sometimes?I picked the 1851 barrel up at a gun show from a vendor that had tables of muzzle loader components and miscellaneous black powder accessories. He was parting out a brass frame Pietta 1851. I bought the barrel, lever and wedge, etc basically for spare parts.
I got mine on Ebay. You have to make sure you use the right manufacturer....like in my case, Pietta. Apparently, they do things differently than Uberti.by the way, I'm still new to all this so I was wondering how hard is it to get a different barrel, sold as an individual item? Thanks Cap't kirk. Does smaller hardware like screws usually come with the loading lever? I see the lever is separate as is the plunger.Zulch, VTI carries spare parts as does Numrich and several others.
I'll say Cap. I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction. VTI was cheaper on the barrel than Numrich. It pays to shop around I see. Availablility is an ever present issue too I see. Pays to wait till the time is right. Thanks, TimYes. Actually, their prices on factory new parts are less in many cases than what the scalpers are asking for used parts on eBay.
It seems to function well. I got this gun [the snub nose] because I saw something similar and wanted to try to copy it somewhat. Will I actually shoot this revolver? I probably won't. It will mostly be just for "fondling" and to have as something really cool to set next to my 1873 20" Taylors rifle.I think it looks sweet. How is the function?
