Well after all these years of shooting auto loaders, it appears I have been bitten by the revolver bug. Don't get me wrong, I still carry an auto for my concealed carry gun but there is just something about these older S&W's. So with that being said I started my new "collection" today with a 4" barreled blue M57 no dash in 99% condition and a 4" blued M29 no dash in about 95% condition. I am afraid this could become habit forming. :D

I'm in the same boat. I love my XD, but my Ruger SP101 is my favorite handgun, and I am already looking at a GP100.

It's hard to resist the allure of the wheelgun.

It's like crack (well, I assume it's like crack - I should say it's like ice cream).

I have picked up five S&W wheelguns in the last three weeks or so:
Model 19
Model 36
Model 520
Model 642
Model 38-44 HD

I am afraid this could become habit forming.

SERIOUSLY!! I have two SIG semi-autos, a Colt Python, a S&W 629, two USFA Rodeos and my next handgun will be another revolver .... a Ruger KRH-45-4 ordered last week. As much as I like all firearms, revolvers are just so much more interesting than semi-autos. For me, semi-autos don't have the class, character, great lines or feel of revolvers. I don't drool over semi-autos but I slobber like my dogs waiting for cookie when I see a revolver. I get the same feeling with bolt action rifles compared to semi-auto rifles.

:)

My first was a Rohm 38. It worked well, but either it sucked or I did. Could never hit anything with it. Got more into handguns, picked up a 6" 686 and hit nirvana. Loved it, but wanted more boom. I picked up a Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter in 44mag, and am 100% content. Later, I'll wnat a 642. But for now, my bug is satisfied.

Congratulations Matt. I can't wait for tomorrow to come so I can get a MO and FFL in the mail for your Ruger.

Here's my Model 19-3

Good shooting,

Welcome to the wheel club !!!!

It's soooo nice to have another DOOMED SOUL!!!!!!!

Its a sickness with wheelguns. Don't get me wrong I still have a place in
my heart (but its getting smaller) for my autos. But there is just something
special about revolvers, a throwback to when we were kids chasing each
other around the neighberhood with our cap guns. Or perhaps its that foggy
vision of a dusty street and a Colt slung low on the hip......

Whatever it is, I'm happy your in the club!!!!! Enjoy your Smith ..... and start
thinking what filly will be in the corral next....

Thanks MikeWSC. I am already hunting for an M27 no dash blued, but may have to settle for an M27-2.

Yep. Picked up a S&W Model 681 about a week ago, eyeing a Model 30, a .32 Hand Ejector, a Model 19-3... and the list goes on. There are lots of good S&Ws popping up locally..... I guess the hunters are trading in handguns as we near hunting season. I passed up a Model 28-2 and I've been kicking myself for it. Oh yeah... I also want a new 442... and maybe an SP-101... and a Model 63. Yep...

I shoot autos too but like revolvers best. Like Colts the best. But their prices
are so very high. Sometimes double S&W. Ex. Bought a Diamondback last
year 2 1/2". It was more than twice as much as a S&W M15 2" in same age
& condition. I have been shooting since the late 60's. Handguns mostly. I
remember only 2 failures from revolvers in all that time. Both came from the
same gun. a S&W m14. Both from handloads. Neither was pistol's fault.
First was grease on primer. Second from a friend's reloads. He had forgotten
to put powder in one case. Bullet had lodged between cyl and barrel. Guy
later admitted he had been drinking when he was loading. From 1968-2004
it was a m1911 or a m9 because thats what my "Uncle" gave me. When I
go out the door its my keys-wallet-Chief Special in my back pocket I have
owned since '70

Oohhh...That's a nasty bite. I'm afraid you're going to have it for a lifetime, mwpslp. ;)

At present, I have the S&W models 40, 640 (.38 only), 337PD, 638, 317 (3" bbl), 63 (4" bbl), 686 (6" PowerPort), and Pro-60.

Oh -- and I also have a NAA mini in .22LR, just to show I'm not biased toward S&W... :D

stormspotter -- that's a nice Model 19 you have there, and a good pic to show it off in! :)

machinisttx -- thanks for that great revolver porn!

Well I guess my thread is useless without photos of the 2 recent purchases. Forgive my poor photography skills.
First is a 3 T's model 29 no dash circa 1958-59
Second is a 3 T's model 57 no dash circa 1968-69

single actions!

If you want to collect then something along the lines of Colt SAA or ruger blackhawk(probably both) will bring a smile to your face. The preferable caliber is .45 Colt.
An actual Colt SAA is expensive, there are enough clones from italy out there that are quite good and a lot more affordable.
