Does anyone have any comparisons for the BK16 and BK62? I was looking at a 16 but am also considering a 62. Blade profile looks very similar, use would be general camp and woods use.

@hso looking at you

The 62 gets rave reviews on the Becker board at BladeForums. I think it’s overpriced for no more knife than you get but maybe not. I have a 16 which I like very much ($66.00 at Smokey Mountain). It’s your choice, I’m sure you’d be pleased with either. Here’s my 16. F85-E79-AC-0244-4-FAD-BDD8-BB943-B03689-B.jpg

The 62 is as close as you can get to a real historic Kephart without getting one from Mike McCarter (who had the opportunity to study the one Ethan Becker owns and reproduces it in every measurement). Becker and KaBar made the 62 as historically accurate as practical, but there are a couple of details different that would have added to the cost considerably.

That said, the 16 is the most practical of the Beckers in this size (although the 15 is a better fighter). A modern grip, modern sheath, and a Scandi type blade. The 16 is Becker's personal favorite.

I have both 16s and 62s, and a couple of McCarters, and I'd take either to the woods, but rather the 16 just because of the grip and sheath.

Missed the 16 on sale at SMKW today but sounds like I’ll wait for it to come back in stock.

Back ordered or I would have gotten one a few days ago when I ordered a BK9 from Tomar

I’ll keep my eyes open between now and the spring. Not in a huge rush but if the Kephart would have ran away with it would have grabbed one on sale at SMKW.

Another vote for BK 16 with micarta handles. Classic shape, solid specs, good human engineering.

I like the spear shape of the BK 62, but the handle does not "lock in" like the tweener pattern on the 16.

I like the older Becker’s, I think they were made by/for Camillus at the time, better than the new ones.

Except for the 5 and the new "tweeners", the KaBar BKT knives are made essentially the same as the Camillus BKTs. The older Blackjack BKT knives were a little different. Becker controls the designs, grinds, and materials.
