I have the choppers, I have the neckers, the most useful blades and easier to carry happen to fall in the 4 inch range. Lately the Becker BK16 has been the bees knees.

Question, I want another 4 inch general blade, in the syle of say ESEE 4, Becker 16, Ontario Ranger or Afghan. I'm toying with getting a Becker BK15 or 17, but wanted to make sure I'm not overlooking anything else out there? Around 75 bucks to spend here.

Also, would you recommend the Ontario Ranger vs. the Becker offerings as these are neck and neck in the running?

Thanks in advance!

+1 on Blind Horse Knives. I have three of theirs and and am totally happy with them. They have a large selection of patterns to choose from, and you can even pick your handle material and sheath style.

Love the look of the Blind Horse knives, but they are above my price limit :(

I have Becker bk16, and I like it. Honestly, I haven't really put it through the paces, but on more refined stuff (fuzz sticks, for example) it has been fine. Plus, I like the sheath. Kind of big, but the pocket holds a field sharpener and I like the mounting options.

Jim,

You found an ad for one, but they're listed out of stock. I'd expect internet prices to be closer to $80 delivered is the knife is actually in stock. I do expect that price to drop to around $60 once availability is better.

Dang! 50 bucks would have been a steal. Just to clarify, I have the 16 already, and love it. That's why I thought I should get the 17, or another 16. When I find a blade that I love this much, I like to get a twin to know I'll always have one.

I have the whole set (Collect them all, boys and girls!) and like the 15 a lot for some less fieldcraft uses. I also like the 5 as well as the predecessor Magnum Camp.

The Moras in that size range are a great bargain as well as any of the other Scandi knives. Prices range for under $20 to over $200. This Fjellbekk is one of my favorite of the more expensive pieces at $99.

See Rangar's for a great selection. http://www.ragweedforge.com/

Thanks everyone for the input. I appreciate all the help, not usually such a hard decision. Ah well, that's the addiction!
