Just back from helping my companion Barbara compete in the three days of the NRA Rimfire F class regional matches at the Black Hawk Open held at the River Bend Gun Club in North Carolina.
Matches were extremely well run, on time and no confusion. A lot of wind, like gusts strong enough to send targets flying across the range, (fortunately before the match started). A LOT more clamps were then employed across the line to hold the targets down. A good time was had by all with only a few muted growls as a master shooter missed his wind call and shot a 9.
The range the match was held on was IMHO the best facility I have ever attended. Clean, extremely well groomed ranges, parking areas etc. But most impressive were the men's & women's bathroom facilities ( ! ) Immaculately clean, odor free, paper towel dispensers full, toilet paper (nice soft stuff said the ladies), soap in the dispensers etc. Overall, a magnificent facility for the shooting sports.
Shooters came from all over our country, License plates in the parking area were from:
VA PA Tenn AZ NM FL NC GA CT SC and possibly more that I couldn't see.
Now we're making our plans for the Nationals at Camp Atterbury 'cause we didn't win anything at the Black Hawk.

Sounds like a bunch of fun, glad you enjoyed yourselves!
Match shooting is one of those things Id LIKE to try one of these days, but likely wont get the chance any time soon.
