Black powder 12 gauge....

Where's the link? I'm not sure what you're referring to. I reload 10,12,16 and 20 with BP and I think I have it down pretty good, but I'm always willing to read more on the subject.

ok i did a write up on this a year ago let me see if i can find it

you need over the shot cards and over powder cards.

ok go gather up as much shotgun shells as you can you do not need any good ones just get a bunch. check them trim them and cut the tops off.

then change the primer. now i use 90grains of goex 2ff followed by a 3/8 felt wad. then press the wad down firmly. fill up the rest with shot dont remember which one think 9 ounce i was using. then use a .025 over shot card. get out the elmers glue and glue the sides. there you have it. just remember that the heat from shooting black powder is intense. pretty much you will be throwing away the shells after using them as you will see melted spots on them. once you go BLACK you will never go back. black powder shot gun shooting is so much fun. this is all for 2 1/2 inch shells i have a table i will see if i can post

Pretty much what Scrat says, but I use an overpowder nitro card, a 1/2 inch fiber wad, the shot, and then an overshot card. Instead of glueing in the overshot card I use the crimp starter to fold the edge in far enough to hold the card. Here's my 10 gauge shells:



You'll want to experiment with powder charge and shot ratios. You'll probably get a better pattern with a lower amount of powder.

Well I haven't got the wads for BP yet, but I did try it with regular plastic wads and Unique. Look ok to me. I guess I'll be making an order to midway for wads and a few other supplies I need. Hope the pick comes thru. Bob

RugerBob, you can use plastic wads with BP, but you may have to trim some off the bottom to make room for the big loads of BP. Some of the wad will melt in the barrel and that will scare the heck out of ya the first time you clean, but it actually comes out easily enough.
