Way back when,,,
Way back when,,,
Around 1997 or thereabouts,,,
I was a member of the Guthrie Gunfighters.
We staged gunfights in the streets of Guthrie Oklahoma,,,
That was for the local event, "Tom Mix Days".
I only participated in a few shows,,,
It was a lot of fun but very time consuming.
I used a pair of 1858 Remington revolvers,,,
10 grains of Pyrodex and foam packing "peanuts" as a wad.
Lotsa noise and smoke,,,
You could generally find the peanut about 8 feet in front of me.
On a lighter note,,,
Between shows we hung out at the Blue Bell café,,,
That's where Tom Mix supposedly worked when he was in Guthrie.
Anyways, I was at the bar drinking a cup of coffee,,,
A fellow gunfighter was there as well packing two 4.75" SAA revolvers.
A mid-20's girl who was sitting at a near table asked me,,,
"Why are yours so much longer than his?"
My friend spit coffee all over himself,,,
The lady (not a blond BTW) was oblivious to the joke.
I looked at her, smiled, and replied,,,
"Genetics".
