Greetings! My first post here and I would like to say "Hello" to everyone. I also have my first question for the group... I recently acquired another replica 1860 Colts Army and a Remington 1858 that need a little attention. Nothing major but some buggered up screws and the 1860 seems to have an excessive barrel to cylinder gap. Does anyone know of a smith that does good work on BP revolvers? I am also considering on having some refinishing done on these guns. I currently reside in WA state but am willing to ship in order go get some good work done. Thanks!

Thanks dprice, I'll give Muzzle loading and more a call. FYI, most of the listings on the WA gunsmith site you refer to either do not exist anymore, don't work on BP firearms or are not to be trusted. That's one of the reasons I'm looking for some references on here.

some of the members here do various types of work on BP firearms, such as Hoof Hearted who works installing kirst conversions as well as other gunsmithing. he has a website on his signature at the end of his posts, so if you see one check him out, he seems like a good guy :)

Is the 1860 a brass reamed gun. If so the arbor may be shot loose and it will be a repair that cost more than the gun is worth. Sometimes driving the wedge in deeper will tighten up the gap.
