The Holly grips are from Private Schultz. Much better than the thin, checkered cheesegrater grips from the factory. Both the Blackhawk and the EAA Big Bore Bounty hunter below are much more fun to shoot with holy black.

The ROA is now wearing these beautiful, pink myrtle grips from CLC custom grips.

Good pictures.

It's silly to get all exercised over appreciative comments.

It's Low Road to get all snarky about private messages--which adults generally keep private. And THR does NOT, repeat, NOT give awards for "Snark of the Day".

Phantom Captain,
I was in BP back in the late Sixties in Indiana and did Friendship quite a few times. Had A lodge on the primitive range with the 64th Virginia Volunteers, the bad boys with the bugle.
I might have known your dad. Knew Capt. Max Vickery President of the NMLRA at the time, personally as he was one of my Mentors, along with Art Holly. I built 19 rifles and 5 Hawken Pups.
You can PM me if you prefer.

towboat_er,

Completely LOVE your rifle. That's definitely at the top of my WANT list. What caliber is yours? I've been looking at the Uberti's and would like one in .45 colt so as to load one cartridge for pistols and rifle.

Plus a brace of USFA SAs, sheesh just gorgeous. Man, the lever guns are just so cool.

Sorry about commenting, I just couldn't help myself.

My grandfather gave this percussion cap rifle to me around 1990, it was his fathers passed down to him. I took it to a gunsmith last spring and had it gone over and repaired and shootable again. Took it to our family reunion in Aug and posed for a picture and received this one edited to look old in e-mail later.

The safari and outdoors shirt from cabelas kind of match the look.
I was squinting from the bright sun

Beautiful rifle enine...
