black powder shoots

I have a euro arms 58 three band enfield musket.I shoot round balls in it ,and hite a 3, or 4 inch group at 90 yards.I use a sniper cross hair front sight ,on it and round balls.I tried minnies but thay didnt work good.Could be because thay are 575 and I need 577 minnie.Bought a euro minnie ball mold in 577 ,but hasnt got here yet.Could I use my sniper sight in competition shoots?

In my experience, it depends on the event and the person running it. If I have a question, I call the boshway for the details before I pack my gear.

I get about the same groups at 75-100 yards with the improved minie 'trash can' bullets as I do with patched .570 round balls. I'm not sure what they measure, .575 or .577, but they perform better from my rifle than the traditional minies do. They aren't going to be much good at long range, I imagine, due to the flat nose though.

Whats the best blackpowder rifle for competition shoots

What would be the best muzzleloader for black powder shoots ? Long barrel,short, which brand,or is it just what feel good,and you can hit with.Which caliber,would be good 32,36,40,45,50,or bigger? What would be good for say the Alvin York log shoot ? Just a few question,tring to learn something about competition shooting which I am not used to ,but would love to start doing.
