Black Talons..

I've got about 135 of the BT's in .40 S&W. Got them at cost way back when (in the early 90's). I carry them as my SD rounds. I know the SXT's are the "updated" version, but the way I look at it is.. why go out and spend additional $$$ buying the updated version when I already have these.

Every six months or so I grab a couple of random rounds from my supply and crank off a couple of shots. The first time I find one that doesn't fire off, then I'll use them as practice rounds and get a box of the SXT's as my SD. Until then..

I was issued 9mm Black Talon duty ammo back in the day that had a brass case, new in the box. This would have been in the early 90s.

PDX1's are the same basic bullet today. at 25 a box... Ill go with those...

Were Black Talons bonded? I though bonded JHPs were a more recent development?

^^^ No they were not bonded... I speaking about the reverse taper that remained in SXT and PDX1.
Furthermore if people still want an "evil black bullet" you can still buy them in Winchester XP3 and other various manufactures.

You could get them btw ways depending on when Winchester made it...I have brass cased 9mm 127gr +p+ ammo...

mine is issued Black Talon from the day...the nickel case was supposed to make them easier to feed and resist corrosion...near the end of the Black Talon days, we received them both ways from Winchester...

I got some nifty high dollar spray on antifriction coating that looks dark gray, I'll coat some rounds with that and call them people killers, see what that will sell for. Claim it gets 200 more fps do to the friction reduction. Penetrates double layer paper targets faster than standard rounds with a cleaner hole. Oh, and mark the box "Law enforcement only"!
