I am looking for a good kydex holster, I've narrowed it down to Fobus or Blackdog machine kydex holsters, I'm leaning toward the blackdog, but I am unfamiliar with them. Anybody have any experience or opinions for a kydex mk iii holster from either of these folks?

Without knowing anything about Blackdog, but having some experience with Fobus...and on the creditability of David E's recommendation...I'm going to recommend Blackdog too.

Fobus has a place in the market, but it isn't usually connected to the words "good kydex"

Black dog holster

I got the black dog holster for my Ruger Mark III 22/45. I use it to practice USPSA. I can't compare it to the Fobus, but I can tell you the Black dog is a very nice holster. It is a little long for the 5 1/2 inch barrel, so I cut the end off, and smoothed the cut with a cig lighter. If it got lost or stolen, I would replace it with another Black dog.

If the MKIII has iron sights, almost any holster that a fullsize 1911 will fit the MKIII will fit. Must be opened bottom.

Bianchi speed rig for a 1911 with comp. The trigger guard actually snaps in place.

the black dog unit is pretty good, as far as rigs that stick out from my belt go.

I'll never buy another fobus product again, I surely won't be putting my tuned target pistols in anything with the fobus stamp on it.

BROWNELLS, has one called "Black Max" from Tactical Solutions, stock# 100-005-249AE. It is offered in high ride or low ride. The discription sounds good.
