Sooo....has anyone experience with blackening stainless steel? Like Robar or Duracoat...

Smith & Wesson has the black stainless on a bunch of models.

I have no idea if any of these coating(s)? are the same or they could be applied to a bright stainless gun. They all look satin in finish.

There is also black nickel, black chrome, and black oxide.

AbitNutz,
I have experience with black oxide on 410, 416 and 17-4 PH Stainless Steels as well as a lot of Nickel Iron Metal Injection Molded materials that can't be given a standard black oxide finish. I normally use Dulite salts and they have a process using their 3-0 salts which converts the surface before the salt bath. The process includes an etch which is why you don't see a high polish on stainless black oxide.

We didn't always etch the stainless we black oxided, but then it was not as durable.
